Yakima/Thule accessories on aftermarket rack?

I've been looking to get a rack for my 4runner. I regularly carry a Yakima box, a Yakima ski rack, paddleboards and lumber on the roof of my 4runner, using some old yakima towers and crossbars (not ll at the same time :-) ). I'm looking to get a rack so I can have better options for carrying fuel, maxxtrax, hi-lift and other gear when offroading. But I'm worried about having enough clearance to mount the box and ski rack with alpine ski bindings.

I'm looking at no-drill full length racks. The Prinsu definitely looks too low to mount the Yakima box. They list .625 inches of clearance. Victory list 2.5 inches but they must be talking about the rail height, not the clearance under the crossbars. LFD looks maybe a little higher but they don't list any measurements on their site.

Anyone have pics of Yakima or Thule boxes or ski racks on their full length racks? Or anyone have good measurements for how much clearance there is under the crossbars at the center of the roof?

Thanks!!

Bump. Someone must put a box or skis on their aftermarket rack. Mainly interested in Victory and Prinsu and similar full length no drill racks.

Thanks!

The Yakima Sky Box can grab Frontrunner rails quite well. You will not get them closed around them completely, but I've done probably pushing 10K miles with a box mounted on a 3/4 FrontRunner rack between my two 4Runners without any issues.

For a ski rack I use the Front Runner designed one which mounts up really well (but did have some hardware strip on it that I need to replace).

I would go victory. They're rack is fully flat and gives some more clearance. I have the Prinsu 3/4 and the middle cross bars sit lower than the front and rears. I can fit my Yakima SUPDawg on the front and rear crossbar no problem though. I haven't tried the middle crossbars but I think they would still fit. Just a little bummed the crossbars aren't all same height and flat the whole rack. I saw another Prinsu Full and it dips in the middle as well trying to stay low profile. Maybe they have changed that?

I have a Sherpa rack and use yakima ski racks. I mounted them to the bars via the tslot method (except with different hardware). They fit fine with plenty of clearance for ski bindings.

Agree, we have probably put about 50k on ours. We load our Sky Box with gear and carry the skis/snowboards in a Sport Tube strapped down next to it. Always a long trip to anywhere with snow from South Florida.

Hey, thanks. Just checked out their website and they even show a picture with the yakima fatcat ski rack (but without skis.) Yakima/Thule accessories on aftermarket rack?

Cool, I considered frontrunner a couple years ago then postponed my rack plans. I asked frontrunner at that time if yakima stuff fit and they couldn't answer. Kinda psyched not to drill into the roof if I don't have to though.

The first time adjustments take patience, but with the sliding adjustment parts on the Skybox's it's pretty easy. You do have to kind of angle and slide the clamps between the bars but once you get them in and clamp them down it's not going anywhere. Frontrunner also has some adapters for Yakima and Thule products now.
