Stage 3 Foam Cell Pro 3" Lift on TRD Pro
Just wanted to post a photo of my new lift. Came from the stock TRD Pro Bilstein's then to the 6112 Bilstein setup and now this. Absolutely love the setup and feel of the truck now, not to mention the look!!
They're still doing the 20% off plus free air compressor and deflator deal.
Highly recommend this, especially for anyone else with an aging 5th gen TRD Pro (mines a '15 I bought new) that's shocks are done/blown. Also, DM me if anyone wants my Bilstein 6112 setup...
Cheers--

I gotta agree with you in recommending the Ironman Foam Cell Pro shocks & coil overs. Quality stuff, built for a tank! At a nice price point.

Would you mind describing how the bilsteins felt over the stock suspension and how the Ironman setup drives? My heart wants the Foam cells, but my wallet says bilstein.

I’m also curious about the difference between OEM TRD Pro Bilstein to the 6112 Bilstein. Subscribed for the follow up.

The TRD Pro stock Bilstein 5100 setup last for about 3 years before I blew a shock. The ride was comfortable with a modest lift and performance, about as expected from an OE setup. I picked up a Bilstein 6112 setup that took the lift up another inch, to about 2.5 front/back and with adjustability up front over the 5100s. I liked the look with the additional lift but the ride quality and overall balance of the vehicle was degraded, especially around sweeping curves at highway speeds (lots of mountain and pass driving for me). I ended up pulling off the suspension after about 3 months because of the killer deal on the stage 3 Foam Cell Pro kit and having heard really good things from friends and reviews online.
What a difference! Super compliant and balanced with an impressive stance. The combination of UCAs, rear panhard bar, end links, etc really helps the truck sit right and the alignment tech commented on how dialed it was out of the box for a lifted suspension. They are built tough and fully rebuildable which gives me extra piece of mind but they are MASSIVE and military spec so I don't see needing to do that anytime soon. Highly recommended!

Looks better, drives worse IMO. Maybe because you're sitting higher and still on a relatively small shock body. Spring rate could be a factor too. The Foam Cell Pros are big, sturdy, and a bit heavier which is better suited for the 4runner. It all depends on your use and needs of course. I'm a weekend warrior at best.

I thought the pro had 6112s that didn't have ride height adjustability

As far as I know, they are 5100's on the Bilstein Pro's (Pre Fox). The 6112 is adjustable.

Just checked it, the Bilsteins on the 4runner are more comparable to (if not are) 6112s that aren't adjustable. They are a 2.5inch pistons while the 5100s are 2inch pistons.

So your take is FCP > OE Bilstien > 6112?

They are a non adjustable 6112 with similar, if not identical valving.

King vs Ironman vs Fox
Hi everyone! Bumping this thread while trying to figure out which suspension to upgrade to (kings vs ironman vs Fox). I'm looking for a 3in lift and getting 285/70/17 for my 2018 TRD ORP.
Budget is pretty flexible, I want quality but don't want to overdo it and pay for unnecessary parts.
I currently have a ladder and RTT. I plan on eventually getting bumpers and a winch.
Any advice is welcome, thanks in advance

I use it for a DD, although I will start riding my motorcycle when it gets a little warmer. I do the occasional weekend off-roading so I'm mainly upgrading to try and get more clearance. Camping, overlanding, off-roading, eventually towing my motorcycle. I also have KDSS.

Hmm with that in mind, I feel like the Ironmans would make the most sense. King and Foxes are great shocks but may be alittle bit more than you'd like to spend and you may not really use them to their full potential.
Ironman foam cells, Dobinson IMS, and Bilstein 6112s are good choices to look at.
