Paint Protection?

Besides wrapping the car, did anyone put paint protection on their new 4R after they purchased it? (PPS, Clearbra, etc). Will be picking up a TRD OR in the coming weeks and want to see the best way to protect the paint from pin striping and chips from all the adventures im about to put it through. Thanks in advance.

The dealer put in the paint protection film and it has held up well from all the abuse in the last 2 years. GOAT Armor is popular for magnet protection kits on the trail. I believe they are having a sell right now (Black Friday thread).

I always get the clear bra. Your Toyota dealer can do it, or you might find it a bit less expensive at a place that specializes in them.

The important thing is to get it put on as soon as you can, brand new if possible, otherwise you may have a paint chip. Toyota paint chips easily and you don't want to put paint protection on after you have any chips.

I just bought mine last night. It has the dealer installed film. Looks really clean. If you were not looking for it, you wouldnt notice it. Guess it depends on what type of "protection" you are looking for. I also wonder what this film will look like in 5 years.

PPF works well, if you want to take it one step further have it ceramic coated, some ceramic coatings work on top of PPF.

Do you have it on the entire car or just certain parts? Hood, Bumper?

Take a day off work and make an appointment with these guys:

Auto & Car Detailing Services in Orange CA | Envious Detailing

Certified Modesta Coating installer in your area. I have Modesta coating on mine and it's been nothing but flawless maintenance. If you're interested in PFF then I'd focus on the lower front bumpers, lower bumpers and lower sides where running boards are located. That and ceramic coating will pay off quite nicely provided you keep up with regular maintenance.

I did Suntek Ultra PPF on the front bumper, hood, fenders, mirrors, door cups, a-pillars, leading edge of the roof, and rear wheel flairs. This would provide little off road protection. I mainly did it for highway rock chips. I think that the PPF would begin to show wear with repeated off road use. Like Mudhorn siad, GOAT Armor is probably the best protection for off road pinstriping.

I've had opticoat+ on my 4runner for the last year, and it's been great. Go out, get it muddy, hose it off and it looks like it's detailed. Love it!
