Front fender mount chop?
I have 33ish/34ish tires with an aggressive offset. Chopped out a lot of material today trying to get everything happy.
Seems like because of my kdss lean more material has had to come of the passenger side.
I’m potentially going to take out my fender mount under flex. I’ve had to remove the plastic corner cap because the tire makes contact with the only bolt securing it. At one point (prob a while back when I had wheel spacers for a few weeks) I hit that mount pretty good under flex and shook things loose in that corner.
I think people with big wheel setups chop this section? It “could” square off nicely. Just a matter of securing the bottom of the fender.
I figure I’m never going smaller then this tire and may go bigger so might as well get it done?

Yeah that looks pretty similar to mine. Although My tires don't that close to the outside part of the well. Probably our offsets are different maybe you have less caster? I run right around 5. I do have a zip tie on the passenger side cause the inside attachment point got chewed up
I attached a couple pics although none are while compressed.

Okay looks like I gotta trim a bit more. Thanks for sharing that.
Maybe not the whole mount. Wonder if anyone other then bushwhacker has some half decent overfenders.

I currently have SCS -10 offset wheels + 1.25'' Spidertrax spacers, which is very similar to the -38 offset you have. I'm also running 285-75-17 Toyo MT's, about 34.1''.
I LOVE the look/stance, but to this day, I am still removing my spacers before I hit the trails for the summer/fall seasons primarily, and at other random times if needed. Without the spacers, I clear off-road with the 34'' tires, no problem...Which is the reason I went with the -10 offset, so that I could remove the spacers, If I hadn't fixed the clearance issues, and still hit the trail.
With the spacers, I am still rubbing when the suspension is compressed, while turning, right there where you are.....the lower fender end-cap/plastic outer wheel well area. I've already cut & hammered some of the metal/lower pinch weld area, but I think I'm about to get a little more aggressive with it so that I can hopefully keep the spacers on full time...It also feels more stable to me with the wider stance, especially off-roading with the roof top tent.
If you hit that area hard enough, and enough times, you'll eventually knock your fenders out of alignment with the doors ect.
Aside from making sure you have max caster, that's about your only other option (more cutting)....aside from new fiberglass fenders ect.
I wouldn't worry so much about the KDSS lean, because it would rub in that same area, off-road with the suspension compressed, anyway. The trick is to clear with the full range of suspension travel, full lock to full lock.

This is a really good point by
@ cmilviper
, I got one to many good hits in on the pinch welds on my driver side and the fender got out of whack with the door. Took weeks to get it back to close to normal.
Also another add on to cmilvipers comment on offset. I run a pretty uncommon offset, +1 on 9" rims which helps with the rub. Maybe doesn't look as bad a$$, but functionally easier to deal with I think

Hopefully you get it sorted without too much pain. Can’t wait to see the finished article. Is -38 popular in the SCS wheels? I’m looking at SCS was considering -10 but I’d love to fit -38 with 33/34s. I’m going aftermarket front bumper and probably do a BMC.

running -8mm with 1.25" spacers , going to take some good amount of chopping if you hit the trails. I'm a city driver hah, and i still get some rub with bmc, and knocking in pinchwelds. i am getting a JBFabrications lower control arm pivot installed next week(fingers crossed) that will push my lower arms 1" forward. That should give me everything i need.
The wider stance is awesome for road feel. 4runner felt very unstable with just -8mm and no spacers.

I'm surprised you are getting that much rub on a 285/70, I looked through and didn't see mention of your offset other than it was aggressive. What is your suspension setup like?

-38MM offset is tough to deal with.

Thanks for the contributions. My -10’s required a fair amount of chopping too so if anything it’s my unwillingness to sacrifice alignment for less chopping. At this point the fender mount is already somewhat compromised from rubbing on both sides and body alignment is... so so (without me hammering welds flat).
Anyone else care to share there chop setup lol.
I wonder if the dirt king or total chaos kdss LCA can help at all...
I really like how they relocated the tab for a fiberglass fender on this fitting 35’s article... photo won’t upload tho. Basically they cut out the original mount and put the tab up on the cab corner and put 3m undercoating over the flattened pinch welds.
I’m confident enough that my welding skills are poor enough for me to burn through the mounting tab first go with the gun. I wonder tho if I could jb weld or liquid nails the crap out of a tab.

Tacoma 05-15 Lower Arm Pivots
– JD Fabrication
have you seen this? Someone posted this and i ordered just recently. install next week. Some differences in mounting points, but i think any competent shop should be able to do it. I read the whole tacoworld thread on these, and they seem like a good idea.
Fitting 35’s with minimal trimming NOW ADDING LONG TRAVEL AND 934 CV’s | Tacoma World
its a long thread.
i am running 285/75 on -40mm offset, wheels/spacers

I'm running a 18" -10 on my 2018, but have the Total Chaos UCA. I've also spaced the rear to eliminate the KDSS lean within very minimal variation from empty to full tank of gas.
