Slider Not Lining Up

Hey all,

Got some sliders from a well-known vendor and the driver side front doesn't line up. The front 2 holes are about 1/4" off, but the back two holes are almost/fully completely covered. The back two holes are where the KDSS skid should remount.

I really don't want to compromise the integrity and strength of the slider. Vendor is suggesting I hole it out.

Thoughts? I understand there's some risk within the aftermarket/bolt-on community.

Thanks in advance.

The vendor's suggestion should tell you all you need to know - send them back. Also, name the vendor so other folks here don't suffer the same fate.

Yeah, are they specifically made for the 5th gen? Agreed, company name?

I agree, the OP needs to request the vender send a prepaid label for return of the sliders.
Inform the community of the vendor in question.

If the solution is not worked out in favor of the customer with the vendor, one could get the CC company involved in the dispute.

Have to agree with flyrv.

You didn’t pay good money to receive a half-assed product and shouldn’t have to do the work that should have done correctly in the first place.

Ditto what other folks have already said here. If it's a "well-known vendor" it's very likely that they are a vender here on T4R and would be happy to help resolve this issue.

Alright all, thanks for the digital backbone. I come from an industry and background where sometimes you make do with what you have, regardless of consumer status.

We all know there's some inherent risk in ordering bolt-on parts, and sometimes you have to wiggle and stretch. I also didn't believe that at any point they would fit perfectly, but close.

I reached out to them for a few more discussions. The staff was helpful, not pushy, and agreed it was a QC failure. I'm getting a replacement. I understand why they tried to help me do workarounds, it's a 50% loss on their end.

Well, if you practice good QC, you won't have to waste good $$$ on fixing your **** ups.

Have installed 2 sets of sliders on our 4Runners with KDSS one from RSG and one from RCI, both bolted right up. No way should you have to start modifying it.

Glad you got it squared away. However the solution should have never involved you drilling out your frame because they wanted to avoid a 50% loss. If it's a true bolt on slider it should bolt on without any other modifications and they should accept 100% responsibility.

I had to drill out holes into my frame to install my Shrockworks sliders but I knew that before hand and it was mentioned on their website and in their instructions. I've also chopped off my rear cross member to fit my 4x4 Labs bumper so my frame has been surgerized lol

With my RCI rock sliders I had to drill a couple holes into the frame and tap them. Wasn't that big of a deal. I thought that would be easier since I was prepared to do the job at that time and definitely didn't want to repackage them and deal with shipping companies. I think in the end I had to do two holes. Non-KDSS version. Now looking back with all the things I've done since it was one of the simpler mods.

If it was me I would ask for a discount and drill the holes. I ended up getting that discount when the paint peeled off and started rusting a couple months after install. Not near the holes, but large sections elsewhere. In the end I was happy with my purchase and never looked back.
