New Maxxis Razr AT
Anyone get this new tire from Maxxis yet? Too new to find much info or reviews other than some Aussie sites.
RAZR AT | Maxxis Tires USA
3 things that stand out for me:
35x11.5r17 size option
Severe snow 3 peak snowflake rated
3Ply sidewall

Interesting...our off roading brothers in Australia seem to love it. Apparently it was released there a couple of years ago.
Yet another 285/70/17 to muddy the waters...

Maxxis USA is misleading as far as I know most of these are made in China.

They are...always have been. Dirt bike tires too.
Maxxis USA is a website specific to the US market...used to differentiate between the Australian specific website, the Indonesian specific web site etc.
I really do not think it was intended to imply US manufacture of anything.
Are All Goodyear Tires Made in USA?
Check out the above link for more info on tire manufactures and country of origin.

So what are you suggesting here?
I guess this can be said for any tire outside of those listed brands? Does this make it bad? If it accomplishes what it markets itself to be and people like it without specific flaws isn't that still a good tire?

My buddy has these on his Ram 1500 he said he loves them, were a lot cheaper than his outgoing KO2s. He hasn't really reported any issues with them so we'll see.

Absolutely! If the post sounded like I was denigrating Maxxis tires, my apologies. I have been a fan of their dirt bike tires for years.
These RAZR AT tires add an additional brand for me to consider when the stock tires wear out...

A bunch of us run the Razr M/T from 35s - 40s. Been awesome in mostly everything for a DOT rated tire. Wouldn't mind trying these A/Ts on the 4Runner seeing how it hardly gets pulled out of the garage, but my Razr M/Ts still look brand new.

There's plenty of dude bro trucks running thin Chinese made brand/tires. Cheap price point for a large diameter tire.

If I eventually get myself another set of rims ill be grabbing a set of the Maxxis MT's... I have always liked that tire. But I need to continue keeping it daily driveable for now so an aggressive all-terrain is where I need to be at.
Im torn between these and the new Toyo AT3's, but I don't like the sidewall looks or the 2 ply. same for the wildpeaks.. too mild.. I want 3 ply. I really liked the ridge grapplers but im interested in something better.

I do my best to buy products produced here, or at least by our allies. Too many other good options to consider these chinese tires, IMO.
As for the number of plies, that's not definitive. You can have two stronger plies, which are more durable than three weaker plies. Which is ultimately stronger is in the details (denier of the material, type of material, etc.).

Razr MT's are my maybe next set... I learn how bad these cooper st maxx's are in mud. Which made me think about the Razr MT's ... how are these in deep snow and packed snow ??? Are the side walls as strong as the Cooper armortek ????

Anybody running these? There was a big thread on TacomaWorld (not much here) about them and seem to have overwhelmingly positive reviews. I have this really difficult and third world problem where my stock 265 Ko2s on 17x8 TRD wheels with wheel spacers were looking smaller every day on my lifted 4Runner with Fox suspension, so I just cashed in some Amazon points. I was hesitant to go bigger due to added weight, but for the price of these and the weight I feel I couldn't go wrong even with two new 285 KO2s already in the garage already.
Maxxis Razr AT
285/70R17 P metric
$193/tire
43lbs/tire
Honestly not sure why these are considered more with weight being such an issue for these vehicles. They seem to be very popular with the Broverlanders is AUS.
