5th Gen Consolidated Rear Bump Stop Thread
Please respond with brands and links and I will add them to this list, similar to my thread on skid plates.
I am especially interested in solutions for lifted vehicles, not just replacements for the OEM parts. Especially spacers/adaptors that retain the OEM rubber bumpstop. Similar to Metaltech's
ChaosFab

A quick search turned up Energy and Prothane. I know King makes hydro bump stops too although I'm not sure what item number.

Questions for all lifted 4Runner owners that read this thread:
What did you do for your rear axle bump stops: leave them stock or modified them?
How were they modified?

Using the Forum's search function I found very little but using external search engines gave me some hits and I found that Toytec has reasonably priced bump stop extenders for 2" lifts
43006 - Toytec Rear Aluminum 2" Bump Stop Kit (07+FJ/03+4Runner)

I’m lifted 3-2 with Dobinsons and I run the Toytec spacers in the rear. When I rotated my tires I saw the marks on the axle tube where I’d hit the bumps a few times. My fronts are stock as with IFS it doesn’t seem needed?
I’ll eventually replace both front and rear with Timbren or Durobumps for a smoother bump when I hit them.

Here are the links. Good stuff, I'm happy with their fronts.

I have to say I don't get the idea of spending hundreds of dollars on the various bumpstops that are made to control the last 1" to 4" of the travel of the axle. In reality, hydraulic bumpstops are just additional monotube shock absorbers. Axle travel should be controlled completely by the shock absorbers and springs working together. Bumpstops are to prevent metal to metal contact (such as axle to frame) and avoid damage to the shocks during excessive impacts that overwhelm the suspension.
If a truck's shocks and springs are always bottoming out then the vehicle should be driven slower, have its weight reduced or the suspension replaced with one that can handle the weight and driving style.

The hydro bumps only seem viable in a baja racer...and the 4runner definitely isn't one lol. But hey...its not like we all add things that make sense to our 4runners haha
