Is it possible that toyota just want keep manual simple. In case people use one direction tires.

I can see how that’s a good idea. I can get the same effect by doing the following:

1st: X-cross
2nd: Front to back (edited)
3rd: X-cross
4th: Front to back (edited)

I think I will do that

You won't get the same effect by doing that.

Just follow one tire for example when you do X-cross first then rearward cross as you mention.

Lets take the left rear tire. Alright so it starts on left rear and on the first rotation (X-cross) it will go to front right. Now time for 2nd rotation (rearward cross) the front right goes to the left rear AGAIN. That's why I always did rearward cross as I mentioned earlier. When you only cross one set of tires (rear or front) you can get each wheel to every corner before it returns to its original spot in the rotation.
