I think I have over read and Over google wheeles and Tires

So, I have a 3 inch lift sitting in the garage with some UCA's to go on also. I have been reading about wheels and tires and I think I am going to go with 285/70.17's since there is no rubbing. I would like to go bigger but I can't find a shop to do a body mount chop, all the shops around here only lift half the rucks and call it a day. I looked at getting a Coastal front bumper but no one will weld it and said they can just order me one. So..... What's the biggest I can go with the lift and have minimal rubbing until I get the grinder out and start hacking away at things. I was going after the T4Rhhhhhh build look. if that helps.

What is your goal? For the "looks" of big tires, high off the ground? To do extreme off road outside Moab, Utah? Or is your goal just to do some off road trails? Gotta know what your goal is to decide what to put on your 4Runner.

Not really to be honest.. it seems like he’s going for the “looks” which a lot of people do and will never really put it to “intended use” but that’s what they like... so he just wants to know biggest tires he can fit in without having to BMC.. whether he’s mall crawling or heading to Mount Everest is really irrelevant .. ;)

I have 285/70/17's and basically a 3" front 2" rear lift and JBA UCA's. 17x8.5 0 offset wheels. They rubbed the body mount. So I chopped it and re-did the mounts with a kit I bought on ebay I think. When it arrived I realized I could have very easily made my own with the press and brake at work but whatever it was easy. So don't think just because someone out there had no rubbing you won't either. Depends on your wheel choice, some tires are larger in the same size than others, and don't forget the alignment can put the tires closer to the fenders too depending on how the tech adjusts it. Lots of variables and it snowballs quick if you want it right.

Check out Southern Style Offroad in Baton Rouge. I met Kevin the owner briefly at the 19' ATR, nice guy. They might be able to give you a good plan on how to proceed.
Might be a little far to actually have them do the work, but they know Toyotas.

OP with 285's you can presume you will rub. Maybe you won't, but most do, so just expect it.

Get a good BMC done and be done with the drama.

It's the cost of admission.

Another option, after market uca's that can provide more caster.

Not without other adjustments. You will rub other areas apart from the body mount at that size. It will take some time to locate and adjust those areas.

This photo is from a member of this site, who had to trim inside his fenders a decent amount to fit 285/75 tires.

Going bigger than 33's involves real bodywork, as posted above. Gearing will suffer too.

It can be done, it ju$t require$ $ome $pecial ajdu$tment$.

Honestly, if you are going to pay someone to do the BMC, you might as well have them hammer back your pinch welds at the same time, and trim back the lower front fender mount area (like in that picture), and trim your front bumper at the same time.

It will cost you less in time and money, and give you the options of running bigger than 33's in the future (depending on suspension and alignment).

Thats what I did.

Thanks guys, I am trying to find a picture of the 285-70-17s with a 3 inch lift, and I have another question. I live in the land of rocks flying into my windshield, what can I do to stop that there are 2 products and 1 is a bug and stone protector and the other is a hood protector, is there a big difference?

Also will 285/70/17's fit on the ORP wheels?
