Anyone Running Dobinsons C59-329 Rear Coils?
Hey Guys,
upgrading my rear coils as all the mods I have made has started to sag the rear of my 4runner. I spoke with someone over at Dobinsons and told them the things I have on my runner ie tent, tire swing out, fridge, camp supplies etc. and they recommended the C59-329 coils (2" lift w/ 600-800lbs constant load) for me. I've ordered them and they are arriving today but wondering if I should have gone with the C59-327 (2" w/ 200-400lbs constant load) coils instead as I'm not sure if the 600-800 constant load springs may be more than what I might need? Wondering if other people are running the same coils and can share their thoughts or even photos of their rig? I couldn't find anything on the C59-329 except on one post.
Current suspension I just have Bilstein 5100s front and back. front are 2.5" lift with the Bilsteins on stock coils. Rear I have the 5100 and a 1" spacer to level out with stock coils as well. I had installed all these about 2-3 years ago I believe but yea time for an upgrade since my vehicle has evolved quite a bit. I would change out the rear stock coils and remove the 1" spacer that was added and put in the 2" Dobinsons. I'm ok with it being leveled or even having a bit of a factory rake with all the mods I have on.
This is my daily driver but I'm keeping the fridge and camping supplies in the car at all times. The only weight I load off when I'm back in the city are all the water in the back and the extra gasoline. I do go off-roading but def nothing super hardcore/ technical like rock crawling. It's mainly to get to the dispersed campsites I want to get to. I've attached some photos to show you what I have on my truck and you can see the reverse rake on it from the weight. Thanks in advance for your help.

Dobinsons 5th Gen T4R Suspension options - lots of choices
Try looking through this thread. Lots of posts but lots of good info. The last 3 or so pages has someone else asking about 329 need as well. The guy that started it..."CrikeyMike" has "ExitOffroad" company. Used to work for Dobinsons main but now has his own shop out of Miami selling Dobinson items.
Good luck

You'll be better off with the C59-329 based on what you posted. I will be running them soon when I install my rear bumper. I have dobinsons now that will sag for sure if I put the bumper on without the new springs.

i have them sitting here waiting to go in. I don't plan on installing them until i get a bumper on.
As a stop gap, I have airlift airbags and they work very well as a stop gap measure.

Ah, thank you! I'm not good with forums as I'm not on here often so it's hard for me to navigate. How I search for things I'm looking for is i go to the search section on here and typing in for example C59-329 and it couldn't pull up anything. Thanks for linking that thread I will take a look right now!

Yeah, those coils should be good. The 327's would end up being too light and seeing how much squat you have in the rear, looks like you need a lot more support than what you have now!!

Have you ever weighed your rig when it is fully packed up? It looks a bit... over loaded.
I know for a fact you are far exceeding the roof load, by probably 2x if not more, depending on what you put in the cargo box. Roof load rating is a meager 125-150 lbs depending on what source you are looking at.
Looks like new rear springs and some weight loss should be in your future!

My Thule box carries some fold up chairs, pillows, and light weight items that take up space in the car.
Not quite sure what I understand by roof load rating. Does that mean the actual roof of the 4runner itself? I've got a Gobi rack and I know I am within the weight limit for the rack. 300lbs driving load capacity and 800lbs static. My RTT is 140lbs itself and plus the Thule with some items in it I would guess its another 50-60lbs. I've seen a lot of guys with 4runners that have heavier RTTs than me but overall have much heavier mods such as front and back metal bumpers with tailgates etc. I've got a hitch swing out tire carrier so I know those are not as heavy compared to a full bumper swing out. I think the last time my truck was weighed it said about a total of 6000lbs... maybe just slightly under from my memory. I appreciate your feedback! thank you.

Thanks Mike! I appreciate you responding here and giving me your feedback. I am getting them installed tomorrow! If I purchase any Dobinsons in the future I will be sure to purchase through you.

Yeah, the load rating of the actual roof of a 4runner is listed as 125lbs, the stock rack is rated at 150. That is dynamic. Doesn't matter if a rack is rated for 300lbs, it is still exceeding roof load over 125.
Just looked it up in the manual, it's actually only 120lbs. Lame...

That's for the OEM cross bars, which are very weak... there are hundreds, if not thousands, exceeding those weights with aftermarket racks and zero issues. Even the factory side rails with aftermarket cross bars have loads much higher, and regularly.
OP - I wouldn't be concerned about your roof weight. I guess it could factor in differently with a rollover, but you're also running (or will be) different suspension which also changes the vehicle dynamics drastically.
