How do you swap Kings springs ?

Your nitrogen pressure needs to be at the right levels, as well as the proper spring rate for your personal driving comfort. A 650 lb spring will give you the ride height you desire, but may be a little stiff. There are compromises with every aspect of this, unfortunately.

I've had these shocks shipped with little or no pressure at all, and they should be around 150 psi. Which doesn't affect ride height too much, but will give you a proper functioning cycle of the shock under load.

With 300+ lbs on the front of my 5th gen with bumper, winch, skid plates, dual batteries, arb comp, and heavy cable, I was worried about 600 lb springs carrying the load, but it does quite well at my desired ride height.

I rebuilt my shocks fall of 2019 and discovered that my nitrogen pressures were quite low. Now at the right pressure, the truck is that much more capable of handling the rough stuff, even with all the added bulk. I had experienced the spring bottoming out when pushing too hard in the past.

Here is a pic of the nitrogen rig I built for checking and dispensing the proper pressures that King recommends. This will apply to the other brands of performance shocks as well. You have to use a no loss chuck because a standard tire guage will not give you an accurate reading and you will lose quite a bit of pressure using one.

So with 300lbs + of weight, your only running 600# springs?

I only have C4 low pro winch bumper, gobi rack and sliders with 600# springs with 11turn preload. I was thinking of trying out 650 or 700 so I can reduce preload.

Yes Sir 600# springs. My ride height may not be to your liking though. I went through hub to fender measurements with Filthy Motorsports and Ben said I was within the range of what he recommends. I could probably go with a 650, but I like how it's been driving now for years. The proper nitrogen pressures made a big difference too.

My kings are only ~ 3mo old. Hopefully the nitrogen levels are correct.

you gotta remember people are building these. so there are gonna be faulty ones straight from king.

ive seen fresh outta the box coilovers with issues worse than the n2 pressure.

Unfortunately I'm on the road working and away from my truck for the next week.
I've seen these shocks ship with no pressure at all.
I think some carriers have restrictions on this,

center of hub to fender is 23.5"

I need secondary shocks. i was on the bump stops a lot in Baja and my wheel wells show it. Tires were full stuffed lol. Shocks were being overworked pretty good.

back end with kings and king hydro bumps worked flawlessley though. I also ran the toytec HD 2." springs due to the extra weight we brought for a week of camping.

Heavy plus on not over springing. I'm just under 300 lbs over stock in the front with winch, alum winch bumper, compressor and second battery. Just like most folks I thought for sure I needed to stick with 700lb springs for my KING setup. However, I'm running 650 and have almost zero preload getting me up to a little over 2.5" of lift. The ride is absolutely perfect.

King recommends 150psi of nitrogen and depending on your driving style & terrain, frequency of checking nitrogen levels.
