Foam mattress for sleeping platform

I’m close to completing the sleeping platform for my 2015 4Runner. I’m thinking a 3” foam mattress is the way to go. Is there a foam mattress that is cut to fit a T4R? Should I look more closely at inflatable options?

3 inch is the way to go, air mattresses suck. You can either get a piece from Home Depot and cut it to size and then sew a cover for it or you can get a custom foam mattress made at Custom Foam Mattresses | Foam Factory, Inc. . You can order separately a cover separately from them.

You can buy foam like mentioned above, or just buy a "double" size mattress

Curious how those with experience (read: not me) would rank the thick foam options above, compared with an Exped MegaMat 10 or 15 - if money was not a factor, what would truly be most comfortable?

The Exped is very comfortable and compact. I think a 4" memory foam folding mattress is best. I use the Exped most of the time, but will be trying a folding mattress soon.

Not cheap but this mattress looks interesting. They make a 'dual' folding version as well.

I'm a few months away from pulling the trigger for a RTT, my back is terrible so I'll throw $ at whatever is the best option

i haven't measured the height difference (2 row) but it seems you could go 4" up to the riser, then 2" over the back seats.
Either glue the 2 pieces together or sew a cover, or both.
IKN?

+1 for the Exped! I love mine and it fits perfectly between the wheel wells!

Looks very cool. Too long for sleeping in the 4R. Too expensive for my taste.

will a "full" size mattress fit the sleeping area. I'm interested in filling up the sleeping area as completely as possible, since that area is pretty small to begin with.

It appears as if a "full/Dbl" size foam mattress is approx 6" too long to fit in the cargo/sleeping area of a 2015 4runner. So maybe buy a walmart foam mattress and cut it down to fit?

Anyone have any pictures of an exped Megamat in a 5th Gen 4 Runner? We always recommend the megamat duo for the 100/200 series landcruiser, people say that mattress is so good they use it at home. It fills every inch of the landcruiser, curious if it fits in a 4R?
