200 Shipped for Safe... Good deal on ebay at the moment

I've been eyeing a safe. Unfortunately for whatever reason ours seem to cost 300+ dollars. Yet a Tacoma and Tundra are like 80 bucks. BUT!! I FINALLY found safes for 200 shipped. Anyways enjoy. I just placed my order

You can get the genuine OEM safe for $240:4Runner Center Console Safe | Sparks Parts

Instructions at: http://toyotaparts.sparkstoyota.com/...-86184inst.pdf

Interesting, your safe looks exactly like the OEM safe.

If you order from parts.toyota.com, you can probably get it for that price and free shipping to your local Toyota dealer.

Yeah, I could. It was just easier to order off ebay. Free shipping and it came out to 207 with tax. I've been trying to find them under 200 for awhile now. I still think it should only cost 100 bucks but whatever.

So you're looking to cheap out and save a buck on the very thing designed and built to keep your valuables safe?

Hell, I can build one out of tin foil and coat hangers and ship directly to you for under $100.....I'll even write "safe, bad guys: do not touch" on it for extra security

It's probably the same as OEM but without the branding. I doubt Toyota makes the OEM safe themselves.

Tempting.

There are some big differences, other than just price, between the Ebay model and lock'er Down ones. Simple stuff like how the door fits on the safe. Also lock options. I have 3, one in the 4runner (2017), one in the Tacoma (2018) and one in the Colorado (2019). Each has the electronic lock. All have been very excellent

I have the lock’er down safe as well. Mine just has the four digit combo lock. It is extremely heavy and durable. I’m in my 3rd 4Runner and just keep transferring it to the new vehicle.

Hasn't yet, longest one I have had is two years. same battery too... I probably need to change it just because...

Someone on Youtube should do a video on these safes in a basic snatch and grab scenario. Thinking a junker 4runner with a Ebay version and a Lock'er Down version installed. Demo a thief with maybe a small hand crowbar and see what it takes to defeat these. I am sure there is some locksmith who could demo how to unlock etc.., but looking at a basic everyday deterrent type of test rather than a prepared safe cracker!

Those Lock'er Down safes look solid. Thanks for mentioning.

I have a Console Vault safe. 3-number code (you can get 4-number or key as well). Not electronic, so no worry about any issues with that. I can leave the console unlocked and still have the door stay closed with the lock. It is incredibly strong. I highly recommend it.

My electronic lock on my lock'r down vault wouldn't unlock in freezing temp initially but after about 4 separate entries, it finally opened up. I don't know if it was just a fluke, if the cold caused some sort of initial electronic failure, or if it was the battery.
