HELP! Magnuson s/c used with TRD CAI

Hi there. I have a 2018 runner in the shop at a Toyota dealership in SoCal getting the magnuson supercharger installed. The tech there is saying that the valve on the front of the supercharger is making contact with the TRD cold air intake. Question is, does anyone have any experience with a similar set up? Any fix to the problem? Or go back to stock intake? Any help appreciated.

Yeah i ran in to that problem trying to install the CAI after getting the SC. Its one of those things they Magnuson should tell you about. I sold my CAI and went back to the stock one. There's really no appreciable performance loss anyway.

Thanks for the info brother. I called magnuson and they wanted the tech to email their support. He said they have solved the problem before but he wanted to see pics. Worst case I’ll just go back to stock.
Can’t wait for the finished product already 😂

FYI, I didn’t have any issues with mine. It was tight, but it was clear. If I recall correctly I loosened the throttle body, and retightend.

Cool guys thanks, an update from the tech he said he’s waiting for magnuson support to get back to him with a definite answer but I’ll keep everyone posted for future reference.

What are you all paying for installation fees?

I installed the AFE one that is designed to be used with the supercharger. Not sure about total performance gains, but I like to believe it was worth routing through a couple of states to get since they won't ship it to Cali. Now to find the right exhaust...

So I used to work at Toyota and they hooked me up with the install by a master tech for 900 bucks out the door. Covered by warranty too.

Sweet, yeah I hope they can figure out how to solve this problem. Then I can start hunting for an exhaust that doesn’t sound too much like a lawnmower

They are loud at cold start due to the high idle, but sound nice in cab. No drone.

If you can change oil, rotate tires, install shocks then you won’t have a problem installing the s/c yourself. It’s fairly simple. Take a look at the install on Magnuson website if you are curious.
If you use a dealer then you’ll be looking at $1200 or so.

I only asked because I did the SC install on my '02 4R with the URD kit, TRD headers and it took about 9 hours.

My understanding is the 5th gen install is a very similar level of difficulty as it is to do on the 3rd gens. I did my 3rd gen in about 4 hours with my buddy as "another set of hands."

Same here. Was a tight fit, but managed to get the intake tube\silicon fitting to fit. Just had to wedge it on. The silicon boot has enough give for the SC bypass valve. I thought about notching the silicon fitting\clamp to make a gap to clear the bypass valve, or I think some may be able to push the fitting far enough onto the throttle bottle to clear the rim of the bypass valve. I haven't had any problems with the way I have it now, so didn't bother
