Cargo Tray Question
Hey all, I have a 17 4runner TRD Pro. I have the cargo trey option, which has been money for changing a newborn on the road. I recently got OEM rubber cargo trey to protect the carpet and it doesn't really fit snugly over the trey. It's always moving around when I throw stuff in the back that drags a bit. I just wanted to see if anybody is having this problem. Thanks all.

Waiting on my cargo tray but was thinking I would put a few squares of velcro on the mat which should keep it in place on the fabric.

The oem rubber cargo mat is designed for models without the sliding tray, no?

There is a version for sliding trays. It seems to be a common complaint that it will move around if not secured in some way.

Have the 'Husky' brand mat for the sliding cargo tray and it moves around also. It does have about a 2" high lip all the way around to contain spills which is nice. There is no cut-out for the cargo tray release handle though. Not a deal breaker for me but a little annoying that you have to lift up the mat to find the handle to slide the tray out. Will try to add a picture later.

I have the OEM rubber mat on my sliding tray, been on there for 8 years. No complaints, it has contained some spills of nasty fish juice from a cooler leak. It will shift when loading and dragging heavy items if your not paying attention and the edges will dog ear over time. I think any mat would shift when dragging heavy items. For protection, given the sliding tray, I think it works just fine. Here's a pic from 2012 when I first put it in.
and heres a pic after years of abuse

Does the OEM mat secure or snap down to the tray somehow or does it just sit on top?
I've got the sliding tray for my 19' but never put a cover over it. Instead, I drilled some holes for U bolts straight through so I can use them as lashing tie-downs for plano boxes back there, but still it would be nice to have a rubberized barrier between them.

No, it just lays on top and the corners grab some. I've never had a need to fasten it down because I usually have stuff on top of it anyway. Never even really thought about fastening it for any reason. The only time it would be helpful is when sliding heavy stuff. The mat is more of a hard plastic like the wethertech mats, so it not sticky.

I got rid of my plastic one and got the Canvasback cover that Velcros in place. I love it! If there was a scatalogical incident involving your newborn, you can just throw it in the washer.

Here is the Husky liner, yes it slides around a lot but it does protect the carpet underneath.

Another +1 for Canvasback. Durable, velcro stays put, and it's poo/blood/goo resistant.

That canvasback looks pretty nice. It doesn't appear to form a tray though. You would have to decide if you needed a tray to catch and hold liquids or just something to protect, or maybe even both!
