These are not my pics. It’s a local guy who got bmc and also has -38mm wheels w/ 285/70/17. He claims no rubbing at full lock reverse. Only the stock bm is mine.

Ok, so here is my feedback on -38s and 295/70/17 on my '18 TRDP

Swapped out my TRDP wheels and 285s and moved up in tire size, here is what I've experienced so far

Mods:
1" level spacer up front
Removed mudflap
Fender Liner Mod

Normal driving is a relatively no issue, the only rubbing I have is on the front bumper, just need to trim it 1/2" and it'll be fine. No rub on the BMC at full lock (no articulation), but it just barely hits the rocker valance at a very specific point.

Again, this was just driving around town and normal driving conditions.

If you dont offroad you should be fine especially with 275s. I'm running f5's -38 with 295s and I had to do alot of mods. Still rub when I offroad . City driving is ok for the most part.

I have have Ray 10s in -10 and here’s my experience of what I needed to do fit:

BFG KO2 in 275/70/17
-Front bumper trimmed
-Pushed fender liners
-Heat gun to reshape inner mud flap

Falken Wilkpeak MT in 295/70/17
-BMC
-More front bumper trimmed
-Rocker panel cover trimmed
-Pinch weld folded out
-Inner fender liner trimmed

I’ve since added 1” spacers up front after getting gusseted spindles, and need to do more trimming. Results will vary.

A lift doesn’t solve rubbing issues; you’ll end up rubbing under compression.

This article covers what’s needed for bigger tires pretty well:

It rubs in the wheel well above the bmc. And I hammered in my pinch welds already.

No, but will do one anyway. It's missing the BMC by about 1/2" right now at full lock and just barely hits the rocker cap on the way by when turning the wheel to full lock

Still got pics of my BMC? Post those up so others can see how much need to be cut.

For everyone else - I'll say this again: SCS wheels with a -38mm offset will need a BMC.

I think this is yours. It has a step in the bmc ? Why is that ?

Thumbs up

Interesting. The last time I requested a step-cut was 1991 at the barbershop.

Looks like you can get an extra eighth to quarter of an inch right there.
