There is no factory protection for transmission, transfer case and the extremely vulnerable exhaust crossover.

Build up your recovery gear and tool bags.

MAXTRAX (Recovery boards)
Kinetic strap
Couple of shackles

GMRS and/or HAM license and radios go a long way.

You'll have money left over for protections - sliders/skid plates.

See what you got left over, then go from there.

Tires make a huge difference in the appearance and performance department.

yes 285/75/17's I am looking at Grabber X3's or Yokohamas Geolander M/T's

1. Tires (where the rubber meets the road)
2. Sliders (because you have stock skids and a 3" lift)
3. Fridge (once you go fridge you never go back). I would also budget for a fridge slide, unless you have the sliding rear cargo tray. We went one trip without the slide with our fridge when we bought it and my wife the whole trip was saying "When we get home you should order the fridge slide".
4. Some form of traction board, especially with the mud and sand in the SE.
5. Skids

Safety and recovery equipment should always be the first purchases. After that then you need to ask what you'll use the 4runner for the most.

If camping or overland camping you'll want an auxillery battery and fridge.

Lite off roading you'll want suspension, lift kit, tires.

Everything else is just gravy after that.

I already have the lift and suspension, tires are next for sure, I am just trying to find a deal. I am loking at sliders, fridge, dual battery, ARB dual compressor , ARB skid plates, LFD hybrid front bumper, and a snorkel as 2nds to the tires.
