Have you had a bad experience with tacotunes also? I see that you had a crappy experience trying to install an aftermarket head unit and extras into a 2020, but what does that have to do with these guys?

Got it all installed. Works and sounds AWESOME!
Pricey but quality. I appreciate their YouTube playlist showing the install and their customer service. I ordered an 8 Guage amp install kit but they sent me a 4, which is better and twice the price, so I cant complain. Their website sucks, and shipping was ridiculously slow (Covid to blame) but overall really good experience with these guys.
Thanks everyone for coming in with advice. Really appreciate it!

Thanks!
I just got a 2022 SR5 Premium and want to add a sub like I did in my 2017 ORP. I used the wiring harnesses you linked in your first post in the 2017. Before taking out the stereo in the 2022, I came here and found your post. Exactly what I was looking for and saved me a ton of time. Thanks!
If I follow everything in this thread correctly, it looks like the TacoTunes 4Runner Plug & Play Amp Harness Installation Kit has the wiring harness and reverse wiring harness that is compatible with the 2021 (and hopefully the 2022) stereo. Basically, the process is the same as what I did with the 2017 stereo, just a different set of wiring harnesses. Is that correct?

Glad my post saved you some time! That's why I came back with the follow-up, figured there will be plenty of people with the same question soon enough.
And yeah, the amp really just plugs in line between the head unit and the speakers. It's a whole lot of wire that I had to stash behind the dash and under the carpet, but I ran it down to the amp, and back from the amp to the speakers. The sound is absolutely amazing! Good luck with your install!

My system sounds fantastic; no regrets on the purchase at all! And yeah, install is simple enough, if you've ever torn apart a dash and done a project like this before. If not, you may want to get some help from a friend that has.
The speaker harness you need is the one I shared in the post you quoted. You should read the compatibility and/or contact the company to make sure it'll work in your 2017; they may have another one to match your year.
Also, if you haven't replaced the speakers, that's a must in order to get the most out of this amp!

Haven't seen any other adapters, though they may exist. I went with these guys for convenience.

Nope, that's actually a small powered-sub. I purchased it on Amazon many years ago. Works great, have had it in several vehicles now, love it!

Powered sub
You kept the OEM head unit, right? So, how did you connect your powered sub?
