2019 TRD OR Tailgate wiper stuck

2019 TRD OR, 20k miles.

I was driving on the interstate to work, light snow shower, 34*F, nothing frozen.

All the windows were up including tailgate.

I turned on the tailgate wiper few times, let it run for 30 seconds, turned off. No problems.

The last time I turned it on, it barely moved out of the resting position, then stopped there. If you imagine sitting in the driver's seat looking at the mirror, it's at 3:30- 4 o'clock.

Now the wiper doesn't work, along with the tailgate window. The lock works, I can lock and unlock with my key, but I can't roll the tailgate window down or up anymore.

I pulled and checked all the fuse under the driver side dash, all good.

All the other windows work.

Windshield wipers work.

The tailgate washer fluid pump works.

Tailgate window switch on the center console doesn't work.

Battery is good, never lost power.

Only mod on the car is the Accessorides remote start with G key. I have had it for couple month, never a problem.

Sounds like a warranty repair.

That would be the last resort. I'll have to uninstall the remote starter kit first because the dealer would likely deny warranty due to the aftermarket equipment.

Also, I'm working 6 days a week, don't want to deal with going to dealership, loaner cars, etc.

2019 TRD OR Tailgate wiper stuck

Having an aftermarket remote starter installed does not void your vehicle’s warranty. The only way an aftermarket part or accessory can influence a warranty claim is if the dealership can show that that part or accessory directly contributed to the failure you are making a claim on. If the installation of your remote starter was done improperly and it caused your whole electrical system to fry, they could deny you.

Magnuson–Moss Warranty Act is what you are looking for. Drop the name at any service writer that's giving you a hard time for this shit.

Magnusson Moss was created to stop dealers denying warranty work if you didn't use a factory air cleaner, or did the oil change yourself, or something maintenance related like that. While the remote start probably has nothing to do with your problem it still represents a modification to your electrical system so a dealer might be within their rights to deny warranty work for an electrical issue. They don't have to conclusively prove a link to deny your warranty work when the vehicle has been modified.

OK, I got some answers and more questions. In short, it may have something to do with the Remote starter kit.

First, there is no blown fuse, main fuse box under the hood, and fuse box under the driverside dash. I checked them all.

Here is what happened. I went unpluged and checked all the fuses under the dash, yesterday. Nothing wrong. Today, I did the same thing to the main fuse box under the hood, engine off, key out.

One of the things I noticed was when I unplug the 10A fuse labeled as "ECU-B", I heard a distinct "click", like a relay. Checked it with a Fluke meter, good, plugged back.

I kept on finished the rest of the fuses. Went to start the engine, the tailgate wiper retracted and the window operated normally.

I thought the problem is solved, but it's not. I tried to turn on the tailgate wiper, it would came down, made 1 single swipe, then stuck again.

I turned off engine, unplug, plug back the "ECU-B" fuse, with the wiper switch at off position, it would retract. If the wiper switch is at Run position, it would run once, then stuck.

If I unplug the "ECU-B" fuse, the remote start would not work, no beep, nothing. I can still start the engine with the key, but some dash warning light would come on.

Now question, is "ECU-B" fuse for the BCM(Body Control Module)?

Accessorides remote starter kit does plug into the BCM under the dash.
