Lunar Rock 2021 TRD Pro Build
So going to try keeping track of my new 4R build here.
Quick intro, I picked up a 2021 TRD Pro Lunar rock a few weeks ago.
Pics of pickup:
Few days later, had the chance to peel all the plastics (asked dealer to leave them all intact) and did an Iron X treatment, followed by Meguiar’s Hybrid Ceramic.
Then had 3M CIR tint (15% fronts, 35% over rears) done and installed Anzo tails (LED reverse lightbulbs upgraded to Lasfit).
New to the 4R world, but so far loving the utilitarian aspects of the car. Costco runs are a breeze.

Congrats on the new ride! Color look sweet can't wait to see one in person. Good start to the mods, I have the same taillights and love them.

Congrats on your new purchase. What new parts and mods do you plan on getting and having done?

Nice man, looks great! I picked mine up last week and am loving it so much. I’d only seen Lunar Rock previously in person on a RAV4, so I’d been crossing my fingers. It looks so good on the 4R. I’ve had compliments from strangers on it literally every single day that I’ve had it so far.

Thanks guys!
Not sure on future mods... I was looking to upgrade to Morimoto headlights... but will wait for them to update their wiring so it’s plug and play.
I’d love to drop in a Super Charger once there’s a tried and proven offering.
As for fog lights, what’s the go to on the forum? Not cost sensitive, just want the best of the best...
Would that be Baja Designs Squadron?

Do you want the fogs for off-road use in clear weather? Or be able to use them for actual inclement weather?
I've had the Squadron Sports and Squadron SAE and they both suck when you actually need fog lights. Currently waiting for Diode Dynamics SS3 Pros. They look promising. Light where you need it and more usable light overall
Have you thought about waiting for Alpharex to update their headlights? I've seen quality issues with the Morimotos and would personally never buy their products. I've been happy with my Luxxs

I just want to upgrade the fog lights for aesthetics reasons... although I love the off-road capabilities, this car will most likely be a Costco/Home Depot warrior (other than the occasional surf fishing trip). The 2021 stock LED fogs don’t really do it for me. Also, could you elaborate on “off road use in clear weather”?
I’ve been reading about these Morimoto issues, makes me a bit hesitant. Def will look into Alpharex before pulling the trigger, but don’t think there’s a plug and play wired for the 2021 LED headlights yet. Appreciate the heads up.

The BD Squadron SAEs are horrible for on road use and even worse in bad weather. They have a very tall "box" that they send light to. I tried using them in a snowstorm over a pass in Washington and it was better to not have them on as they sent too much glare back at me. Additionally, since the box is so high, they blind oncoming traffic as if you had high beams on. You can legally run them on road but it would be more considerate to other drivers to not. If you ever do go offroad, hope that there isn't any fog or dust as you will blind yourself with the BD SAEs.
Something like the Rigid SAEs (I have them in my other vehicle) have a nice wide, thin, low pattern that is actually usable in inclement weather. I'm hoping the Diode Dynamics SS3 SAEs are better than the Rigids and they certainly will be better than the BDs. As a Costco and HD runner after looks, I'm assuming you want a set of fogs you can run all the time and the BDs are not them. The SS3s are sitting in my garage waiting for a warmer day to install. I'll update my build thread after I put them in but there is also some more info on the Tacoma forums by crashandburn if you're interested

Welcome and Congrats
i suggest look in to Pedal Commander it gives you a little or a lot more Throttle response in regards to Fog lights I don't know if you can swap just the Bulb to change the color but there is company that sells lens covers to make them look amber it seems that most people go with Baja design i did not like them because not good for every day use only off roading mostly good luck

Solid purchase, love the lunar rock color. Welcome to the 4r family!
I run the Diode Dynamics SS3 fogs (amber) and have nothing but good things to say. Great coverage on the road and at night, SAE compliant, and cuts through inclement weather adding visibility. I also picked up their SS3 Pro ditch lights and have yet to install (sub 10 degree weather and no heated garage rip).

I'm using the Rigid OEM SAE's (part # 37101). They're not cheap, but the fit is great compared to some of the other options out there. I wanted something that wasn't going to blind oncoming traffic if I left them on in town.
They utilize a similar adjustment mechanism to the stock lights so adjustments are extremely easy. I'd rate the overall fit/finish as a 9 out of 10. My only complaint is with the black plastic shrouds - They clip on to the light and don't feel as secure as I think they should be. They also leave an approximately 1/8" gap between the Rigid fog shroud and the OEM black plastic trim. It's something I'm sure 99.99% of people won't notice, but it slightly bothers me.

I thought the OEM LED fogs are from Rigid.
I have an aftermarket bumper so I am running Rigid branded LED DOT fogs and been happy. But have DD SS3 Max DOT fog in route and looking forward to see what they do. Very expensive, but they seem to be very highly rated. As do the other versions of the SS3.

The OEM fogs on the Tacoma and Tundra are Rigid branded, however the 4Runner just gets the Toyota LED fogs on the newer models.
