Entune USB Relocation
Hello all,
I am considering relocating the entune USB from the console stack into the glove box on my 21 ORP. I'm assuming the cable isn't long enough to fish it over without extending it and I would like to avoid splicing the factory wires, so I'm looking for a simple male to female extension harness. Does anyone have any input on a product that would work for that? TIA!

You're going to have to splice. Starting in '20 the USB connectors on these trucks are different than any prior year, so any type of adaptor - or anything else designed to plug into the OEM wiring harness for the USB port - does not fit.

Why do you want to relocate dash USB to the glove box? Why not just add a USB in the glove box (easy to do to wire to the fuse block) and leave the dash USB where it is. Or do what I did: I use a 12v cigarette to USB adapter in the center console 12v outlet.

Wireless? That means Bluetooth. All you need is power; the signal will go over the Bluetooth connection. Thus, just add a USB outlet in the glove box as suggested above. No spicing wires.

I have a wireless CarPlay adapter, and used Velcro (3M Dual Lock actually) to secure it to the top of the small compartment in the dash adjacent to the USB connector. All you see is a little loop of cable. Would be better to have it in the console or glovebox, though.

I will be doing this once I get my comms worked out. Seems like a waist of space to have a USB, that I don't use in the center stack. Depending on radio choice, may or may not move the 12v power as well. In the pre 2020's its simple, not sure how the extra nanny tech complicates it, but it's easy enough to unsnap the interior and have a look.

Exactly. I want to relocate the CarLink dongle into the glove box so that I have a usable USB in the stack and save the compartment. I’m also contemplating installing a MagSafe wireless charging pad in the console.
The problem I have now is that I just realized that the entune USB slot is not the standard switch size. It’s smaller and more square. If anyone knows of a product similar to the link below that might fit, please share. My intention originally was to use that USB port, tagged on to the 12V outlet to fill the stack Entune slot. Now I’m looking for a different solution.

I'll be using a panel mount USB extension to relocate the carplay port to the center console.
I'll likely either increase the original cutout size for a standard toyota switch, or just 3d print a plug for the factory hole.
Why toyota thought that was a good location for the port is beyond me.

actually carplay uses bluetooth only for initial handshake. afterwards, it uses wifi for all transactions.

I ziptied mine behind the dash and plugged a charging cable into the socket and ran it into the glovebox.

Here’s everything I’m planning on using. If anyone has any cleaner ideas, I’d appreciate the input.
Remove the Entune USB and reconnect behind the stack. Connect the new USB in the glove box to the original Entune USB and fuse box. Fill Entune slot with small form factor USB connected to fuse. Connect 12V to USB to MagSafe charging pad and double sided tape it under the bottom stack cubby.
