Right Rear Clank

I’ve 2013 Trail with KDSS, no lift no suspension mods and get this clank in Passenger Rear wheel area when hit small bumps. There is no unsecured item and struts are new. Any ideas?

"Struts are new?" In the back? The 4Runner doesn't have struts in the back; only separate springs and shocks. Did you replace the rear shocks? If you lowered the rear axle to replace the shocks, it is possible the rear springs became misaligned with the spring seats. That would cause a clunk in the back. Check that the rear springs are properly seated in the notch in the spring seats.

Right, Shocks. The clunk was there before replacing and was the reason I got new shocks. Does that side of KDSS known to clunk in cold weather? It happens only during winter.

The rear hatch seems to be a common source for intermittent noise in the back. It took me a while to realize that was my problem since I was messing with all of the wrong stuff (spare tire, jack, tools, interior panels, loose cargo) and searching with the wrong terms on the forums. Check this out.

Hatch Rattle, Latch Adjustment?
