Dobinsons front shock skirt rubbing shock body
I purchased a fully assembled front setup back in January 2017. The rubbing started a while ago but just recently started making a horrible binding/galling noise when in use. The scuffing is very apparent as bare metal is always very clean, even in the midst of winder here from metal on metal contact.
I have also started having some suspension noise that may or may not correlate. Feels as if the clunking is internal to the shocks, but there is no excessive jounce or signs of failure.
Questions:
Bend them back?
Is this wear and tear?
Is this why more manufacturers don't use solid metal skirts/shields?
Lastly, What the heck do I buy to replace these?
They have worked very well up to this point. I don't go off-road often, but these roads are a battleground with speedbumps and other awful hazards. I rather go to a better shock, but not anything that has to be rebuilt. I guess it's a crap shoot for longevity between the bigger names.
Thanks for any/all insight.
