power steering fluid type for 2016 4runner trail recommendations?

2016 Trail 4runner

noticed that my power steering fluid, is at minimum cold level.

cant be the only one with this question.

ive read other posts, but looking for current recommendations, or what others are using.

what are you using for power steering fluid?

owners manual says dex III, but local dealer, only have dex IV.

what are you using?

what is working for others?

thanks.

Just go to any parts store, or Walmart, and get Dex III. No reason to get Toyota brand fluid for something like this.

The dealer is wrong. Just get some dex-iii atf and top it off.

Dex IV is just an upgrade over Dex III. Either will work well. Buy where you find the best price.

Yup thats what I use in my rig. Bought a gallon of the SuperTech DEXIII fluid. Killed half a gallon using a gas syringe taking all the old fluid out and putting in new fluid and turning the steering wheel several times. Just kept continuing the same cycle over and over for about 20 times. Took about an hour or less.

I’ll kill the rest of the gallon after 50K miles.

Either use dex-iii or T- IV. If you already have dex-iii then drain and fill with T-iv My personal preference is not to mix different grades of oil. Don't want to open up the pendora's box of mixing different grades of fluid.
