What am I doing wrong? The BMS should be able to charge at the correct voltages and current. And the batteries I have are well over the limits of the BMS. Should I connect the BMS to a DC/DC charger? What are the disadvantages or dangers of connecting the BMS directly to the alternator?

are you building your own lifepo4 battery with bms on it? give us the details on what hardware you currently have.

Per your original question about wire, I would research someplace like WiringDepot. Maybe Marine wire or SXL Cross-Linked wire. Consider enclosing it in sheathing or some kind of flexible conduit if running it externally.

This one is similar to the one that I have but with 250Amps.
Amazon doesn't have the 180A that I got awhile back.
