Bigger mud flaps aren't going to help you much, you need paint protection film.

I have paint protection on my corvette. That’s what he needs just in that area. But depending on what side steps you go with between them and the Rockbloz mudflaps it will protect that area pretty good. I here once and a while rocks hitting my side steps but no nicks in the paint.

A lot of rock chips on from doors

I was wondering if some one could help me to diagnose this problem. I have 2021 4Runner TRD off-road venture package. I was washing it today and noticed a lot of rock chips on the driver and passenger doors. Here is the picture. This truck was on 4-5 road trips which involved a lot of gravel road driving. Do you think these running boards are reflecting small stone towards the body?

It's just whatever crud making it off the tires onto your paint. If anything the steps are probably deflecting some of it. Keep in mind that off road tires or all-terrains, with their larger tread blocks, will hold onto and kick up even larger stones. I've found this out on my 2021 as well. I'm trying to find a new set of sliders that has more coverage area. Anyone have any suggestions? I was looking at the victory sliders.

The body and paint was pristine on my 17 when I bought it used with 20k miles on it from the dealership.
Paint was scratched just getting it home. Arizona pinstripe.
Got a bit of rash on the right front fender cresting a saddle. Fond memories every time I look at it.
Like you OP, I bought it for off-road adventures.
I'm glad my scars were on my terms, having fun, and not by a shopping cart in a Walmart parking lot.
I also intend to keep my 4runner for 100's of thousands of miles. My other, now semi-retired, daily driver is a 97% original 1968 F100.

I am thinking about replacing these the rock sliders like Cali Raised with filler plates.
