Rci

Anyone running rci skid and valvomax oil valve.
Is there enough room to hook the drain valve with the skid on?
I prefer the valvomax more than the fumoto.

Good question. I have RCI skids and originally fit a Fumoto. Like you, I prefer the design of the Valvomax and purchased one intending to install it. It's just a little too big to work with the cutout in my opinion. Still sitting in the tool box. Wish I could use it.

Thanks for the reply.
You think if installed before the skid it would be ok. The clearance and the drain valve could fit through the opening.?I honestly I like the little door access of other skids as the rci opening looks a bit small for the oil pan access.

It's not bigger than the opening, but once it is on, there isn't enough room to get your hand or a tool around the (then recessed) cap to remove and drain. You could potentially leave the cap off and just rely on the exposed, spring loaded ball valve, but I'm not comfortable with that.

I agree that RCI made that hole unnecessarily small.

I plan to fool around with it a little more on my next oil change. I didn't spend too much time once I saw it was such a tight fit.

Do you have any problems with the fumoto and rci?
I am surprised that fumoto would work as well because of the small opening.

It's pretty tight and blind reaching up there to actuate the valve. You will definitely want to get the valve nipple adapter with a section of hose or you will not be able to open the valve without making a mess of yourself and the top side of the skid plate. With the right setup though, it's not a big deal.
