Drop in Primary Battery

Is there a Napa or advanced battery that's bigger that i can just drop in without spending on an Optima or needing to lift the battery? I tried to read all the threads and i'm more confused now than when i started. =)

Thanks!

Lead or AGM battery? Most people here upgrade to AGM, but you need to keep in mind these batteries require more voltage to stay healthy; thus also adding a voltage booster.

A popular option is the slightly larger 27F size, but I believe that requires a battery tray from the 4th gen 4Runners. If you want to step up to Group 31 or larger, you have to factor in additional costs of getting a beefy battery cage and still risk cracking fender.

Are you just needing more capacity? I personally went for an AGM Northstar battery in the same stock size paired with a voltage booster. Didn't have to buy a battery tray, worry about cracking my fender and it dropped right in.

A 27F drops right in without the need for any trays. I took out the stock tray and dropped it in!

My 2016 SR5 is now a Die Hard machine. I installed it's 1st battery.

Die Hard GOLD 24F-6.
750 Cold Cranking Amp baby.

Original tray and battery clamps fit perfectly for the install. Now it starts like a champ.

Yeah, running a 27F here. No spacer is needed for the Northstar or the X2 Power (another really popular 27F battery). There is no need to lift the group 27s, same for the 31s but for the 31s you may need to extend out your terminals as the terminal placement is on the outside closer to your headlights.

To the OP:

The "drop-in" battery you want to look at is the Northstar Group 27 and the XPower Group 27. You can also look at the Odyseey Group 34 but you will need to buy their riser bracket. The battery snaps right into it and then you drop it in. Those are both straight swap drop-in batteries. I have run both batteries but I really like the Northstar Group 27 as it has higher rated CCAs and Ah, although it does weigh a bit more than the Group 34 (68lbs vs. 51lbs).

I got a 34 Odyssey battery which works great, buying a $5 spacer bracket isn't the end of the world, it snaps right on, shoot my last Odyssey came with the bracket so I had an extra one

I bought a Sears AGM Die Hard in 2016, no voltage booster, it seems fine. Probably going to test & maybe replace, after 5 years.
it was a Gold AGM EP-34R, it dropped in just fine. As I recall, it had a bit more juice than the stock size battery.
Guess you would need to get one at Advance Auto parts now.

YMMV.

I put in a Napa Premium 24f this spring. It has about 200 more Cold cranking amps than the Panasonic.
