Rexing Hardwire Kit on 2021 Limited

I imagine this has come up somewhere but I haven't found the right thread.

I just bought my 2021 T4R Limited a Rexing dash cam and the additional hardwire kit. In all of the posts and videos I'm finding they have some other way of doing things. Some use an add-a-fuse connection but that seems to be the old way. The kit I have has the 15 amp fuse connected to the cable permanently and I have seen instructions to just replace a 15 amp fuse in the interior fuse box making sure to check which side is hot. There are only 3 fuses that are 15 amp in that box: Rear Washer, Rear Wiper and Hazard lights.

Who has wired this before and how?

Thanks in advance.

I have the same kit. I did the hazards for constant and just used an the 7.5a ignition switch otherwise. Seems to work just fine for what I needed. Also, if it makes it easier, I put the little box part of the harness inside the pillar cover to keep it out of the way

A lot of people are powering their dash cam from the rear view mirror: Dashcam hardwire into rearview mirror power

You can get an adapter from Amazon.

Not sure the original post in that thread applies to the 20+ 4runner since they all have the large Safety Sense camera behind the mirror now. Id assume the wiring is different. I could be wrong though.

Great, I'll probably mess with it later this week to give some other people a chance to chime in. Thanks everyone.

I've got that same camera in my '20. I ran the cable down the A pillar and used an add a fuse to a key-on source.

Dongar Technologies Dash Cam Installation Kit for 2020+ Toyota 4Runner Amazon.com: Dongar Technologies Dash Cam Installation Kit for 2020+ Toyota 4Runner: Electronics is for 2020+. I bought one and ended up hard wiring for the parking record option. But this may work if you’re wanting something a little easier.
