LOL, they've actually been behaving recently. But I still randomly get the steering wheel shimmy. I'll try 44 and see what it feels like.

They are C load. After 1500 miles, the ride is getting better and the tires are starting to quiet down a little. The cupping (bought them used) is the other reason they have been so loud and that is wearing down as well.

So far, they have been fine in the rain. It actually has been raining here and I have not really had any issues. The back end slipped for a half sec during a turn, but that was on the first day of rain when the roads were still very slick, but otherwise they have been fine. No experience in the snow yet.

The Toyos performed very well in the snow. Took a few trips into the snow and had zero issues. Even pulled a few trucks out of the road as they were stuck in the snow.

We just got about 20” of wet, spring snow where I at. Yesterday there was 12-14” of snow when I went out to check on some folks. No hurry, no worry and the 235 80 17 Cooper AT3 LTs did just fine. Today with the melt it’s all 8-12” of heavy wet snow. Still not a problem, but any more (or if I were to go be more adventurous) and I’d be quick to chain up the rear.

Okay I have a tire question. A couple actually. Getting my first set of 285/70/17's. I have a 2011 SR5 RWD with the Eibach stage one lift. Hopefully they don't rub, or at least just hit the front where I can do the fender liner mod.

So, I was set on KO2's, but want the C load. I noticed they only come in Q speed rating now. I have been known to push it past 90 going down the highway. I think 99mph rating is a little low. True or am I just being paranoid?

Another choice is the Toyo AT3 that people have been mentioning in the thread. Again, C1 has a speed rating of Q. SL has a speed rating of T, but the max PSI is only 36 psi.

What do you, the people that know what they are talking about, suggest? Because I'm suffering from analysis paralysis big time.

And I just realized this tread is from 2021, so on top of all the above, I'm resurrecting an old ass thread.

99 mph is fine. you are in a 4Runner. no need to go into the triple digits. and that's coming from someone that use to love speed. get the tire for the conditions you drive in. if 99 mph is too slow for you, get a different car/truck.

Well speed limits in Texas are 85 in some areas. So going 90 is normal.

I get it. I lived in central CA and everyone cruises around 90 in the desert, and if it was empty I would be a little more spirited, but in the 4runner I would be a little more conservative. When I lived in VA, I would run snow tires on high hp cars and have a q speed rating. 100 mph comes up QUICK when you have 500+ hp in a small car. You decide what tire is right for you. Being 2WD, I think you could get away with whatever tire has the proper load rating you need and has a higher speed rating.
