OldRed Accessory Meter Help
TL/DR - Need to know what wire in the harness should be providing constant ACC power to the clock.
Finally got my hands on an uninstalled OldRed Accessory Meter wiring harness and completed my install tonight. I was super excited to get this, however it's been one of the more frustrating installations I've ever had due to issues with the harness.
In getting things installed, I've had 4 of the wires pull out of their pins at the plug side. It's like they weren't fully crimped into the pin before being seated in the plug. I was able to get them to go back into the pins as best I could (I cannot for the life of me get the pins out of the plug to properly reinstall the wires - Please let me know if you have any advice or tools I should be trying). I'm pretty sure this isn't a manhandling issue as three of them were already installed and pulled out just getting the harness situated.
I initially had an issue where the accessory meter/clock was getting power along with the radio even after the car as shut down, key removed, and door opened. After tracing that back to what I believe was one of the pins at the meter plug shorting against another, the entire setup works. What initially tipped me off was pushing on the meter assembly itself would either give it power or turn it off with the key removed. It was like the harness itself was physically pushing against something and shorting to power.
Everything is now up and running save for one issue - the clock resets to 1:00 ever time I turn the car off. Before I go tear everything back apart for the 6th time, can someone confirm if the blue wire at the gauge cluster provides constant power to the accessory meter/clock? I've checked the dome fuse and disconnected/reconnected the battery multiple times with no success.
If it helps with diagnosis, the blue wire at the cluster was one of the failed pins, along with two black ones (one with a single silver dot, and one next to it with two dots) at the accessory meter side white plug, and one at the white plug that mates to the factory clock plug - This last one I was able to access fully and ensure was totally re-crimped. Additionally, the accessory meter is displaying compass, range, & temp correctly and matches my cluster. The crawl control error message also displays when not in 4WD (haven't tested it in 4WD yet). The display dims and the two buttons illuminate when the headlights are switched on.
