Morimoto XB Failure

After I first bought my 4runner, I HATED the dim yellow headlights and ordered the Morimoto replacements for over $1200. I had them installed for just three days and saw that the perimeter LED's were going in and out in the reflection of a car I pulled up behind... I was pretty much furious after spending so much money and having to pull the whole front end apart to install them.

I worked with Headlight Revolution to return them and just went with their SV4 LED's instead and I'm so glad I did! The SV4's are AMAZING and have not let me down for the better part of a year. In fact, they are far brighter than the Morimoto's were. Headlight Revolution was great to work with. Although, I will say that their customer service rep told me they knew about this issue with the Morimoto's and they hadn't (at that time) had anyone need to replace them MORE THAN 3 TIMES. That was when I decided to return them and go with the other bulbs.

Was just going through some pics today and ran across this one and wanted to share. Figured this might be helpful to someone.

They used to flash me, but I don’t think it was from brightness, I think it was from that stupid idea of running two bulbs per side which looks like you have your brights on. Supposedly, the second generation Morimoto lights fixed that, but I wasn’t about to dish out more money to them.

Well, I didn't keep the Morimoto's so I wouldn't know about that, but the week I had them, no.

With the Headlight Revolution SV.4's I do get flashed a bit, but I've since adjusted them down a bit and now they seem fine. No more flashing.

Again, the SV4's are actually brighter than the Morimoto's were in the first place and leaps and bounds better than stock.

I will get some output pics the next night I'm out. I misnamed those, they are actually SV.4's on Headlight Revolution. Here's a link to them:

14-20 Toyota 4Runner GTR Lighting S-V.4 (Low Beam) | HR

14-20 Toyota 4Runner GTR Lighting S-V.4 (High Beam) | HR

I bought the Low and High Beam. They are amazing as far as I'm concerned. Even my wife is like "Wow! Those things are bright!" and she couldn't care less about stuff like this. I have had them about 10 months so far and no problems. I hope they don't fail at some point but that is to be expected.

They come with everything you need to install them, including the modules that eliminate flickering in the DRL's. As far as I'm concerned, they've been worth every penny so far and if they die in another year, I would buy them again.

Here are some shots from last night to show the output. Compared to Stock, they are simply amazing. With these adjusted at this height, I do not get flashed from oncoming traffic.

First shot is Low Beam, second is High Beam. I bought both sets from Headlight Revolution (*Links in an earlier post)

Just to Clarify for those who may not have read the entire thread: I returned the Morimoto XB's and went back to the stock housings and simply installed the Headlight Revolution SV.4's (Both High and Low Beam). These output photos are of the SV.4's; not the Morimotos. Honestly, these are a lot brighter than the Morimoto XB's were in my opinion.
