I am not all that familiar with the Jeep line so I respect the straight talk on what the Jeep is capable of.......I did notice some Jeep bashing on the "power"......
you may want to check this out
2021 Jeep(R) Wrangler Rubicon 392 - V8 HEMI Engine SUV
Toyota has no answer for this one.

All great responses. Why can’t Yota build a 4C4 as capable as the Rubicon with the flexibility of removable top, doors, etc..., but with Toyota reliability??? Looks like they will have to now or lose market share to Ford and Jeep. Competition could be a GOOD thing. Bone stock I am betting the Bronco in similar trim is also way more capable than the Pro, the numbers alone suggest that, although vids of it in the Rubicon trail seemed to show it struggling.

This is pretty much what steered me towards a 4Runner when I was in the market for a new ride. They are completely different vehicles and rough to even compare them. I had a YJ for a lot of years, loved it, but needs are different now.

I (well, technically my wife) currently own a CJ-7 to scratch the top-down motoring itch.

The YJ was rough but I was young and didn't care. The CJ is a rock tumbler (solid axle, leaf-springs, no shackle reversal yet). Driving it anywhere but to whatever restaurant we are going to on a nice day is brutal.

Has anyone been able to run 285’s on stock Pro rims without a body mount chop AND without rubbing anywhere? If you have please share with us your setup. I am sure many of us would like this info. Thanks.

They're two different vehicles, so a meaningful comparison is difficult to make. I'm not familiar with the Jeep, but folks on here who are familiar say that the 4Runner will get you to around 90% of the places the Wrangler will go. If you go off road into that last 10% a lot, where 4Runners can't go, then the Jeep is apparently your answer. If you need it for a daily driver and occasional off-roader, it sounds like the Wrangler might end up being a regret. As someone suggested, take a Rubicon Unlimited for a long pavement run and see what you think.

What are your plans for the Jeep? Do you plan to rock crawl? Biggest setback to the 4runner is the amount of suspension travel. 10-12 inches of shock travel is easy for a Jeep. On road, comfort, and reliability goto the 4runner. If your a modder, Jeep has a vast aftermarket and you would eliminate most of the issues they can have. That comes at an additional cost however. You already have the Pro, run it until find out it does not meet your needs.

I came from being a Jeep owner before getting my first 4R and don't have any plans on returning.
Ya rly. The only jumping I'd be doing with regards to a Jeep is jumping out of the way of buying one One day I may get an old TJ because I used to have one for a few years and I miss it and I'd drive it topless on the weekend, but not anytime soon.

Wranglers are cool as hell though. I think every red blooded American boy has at some point wanted one and thought about it whether it is a practical decision or not. I know I have but just never pulled the trigger for various reasons already stated in this thread.

If Toyota released this with a 74K price tag I would trust it. I'm not trusting Chrysler Fiat with a 74K price tag. The damn thing would require parts half way into the loan.

Well being in Arizona any moderate to difficult trail requires some type of rock terrain/crawling, so run into it all the time whether I want to or not. I am not a rock crawler per se but do want to be able to get thru techy sections without tons of carnage that I know the 4Runner will incur.

With that said.. Get the EcoDiesel... its heavier.. but sweet sweet MPG... and... 442lb-ft of torque it can handle 37's without re-gearing. 22city/29hwy and tuning is available for even a bit more power.

No no no. EcoDiesel is the embodiment of anti-reliability. It’s just not worth it.

I think we would all agree we need a modern FJ40 or FJ80 with a removable top🥶
