Been meaning to ask you, how much did you end up paying for the install and how many days did it take? Tia

It took 12 hours in total and I paid right at 1k at my local shop. Procharger makes it look like a pretty straightforward install to do yourself, I just didn't have the time.

The procharger will be fun till your crank breaks. Your transmission will probably fail 2-3 times before the crank fails. Fun cost alot of money!!!
I just love reliability. Stock powertrain for me!

I love the comments from people who bash on the power upgrades.
If you abuse NA or boosted they will both fail overtime. Take care of it and it will last a long time.

Yes and no...I think engines and trans are more robust than in the past. I don't know about the 4runner, but alot of times a manufacturer will use the same engine and trans in multiple vehicles but in different states of tune....so they are built to handle the highest state of tune.
I put over 100k in tuned form on my merc e550. 4.6l twin turbo v8 putting out 540hp and 700lbs in torque on stock trans with not one single issue and it ran and shifted like the day I bought it. It was all wheel drive and I drove it pretty hard. Thats up 111hp and 272 lbs of tq from stock..
Mercedes Benz AMG M278 ECU Tune E550 S550| Weistec
Anyways, the same motor, trans combo was also used in the s550 at over 500hp.
All that to say, the 4runner increase is not that radical and it can probably handle it...If I was going to install one, I would ask myself...am I ok with the engine only lasting 200k miles instead of 300k and is that worth it to me.

Tell you what, I'll take one for the team and suffer whatever fate supercharging my 4runner bestows on me so that no other owner may have to go blindly into the consequence of playing with his toys until they break . Call me a martyr, call me a hero, I will do this for you all.

22.6 mpg
It's official, this latest fillup was at 1/4 tank-ish. It took 13.17 gallons to overflow the fill neck and I drove 297.7 miles. Even with me driving like a jackass I went from 17.5mpg to 22.6mpg. It seems too good to be true, so don't go out and justify the purchase just yet (it would also take me until 120,000 miles to break even on this thing #HeDidTheMath)
I'll do one more tank manually, but things are looking to be inline with what the trip computer is telling me.

Got anything to back that up, or are you just farting out speculation?

Not to dogpile
@ redneckj
but I'd be interested to hear if you had some experience or insider info on this too. I did a bunch of research before I dropped the money on this and found basically nothing that couldn't be attributed to "but why!?" and it's never too late to learn.

There are plenty of silent sleeper SC members on this forum enjoying the boosted life and I don't see them replacing their drivetrain, well at least it was not told in their build threads.

It probably depends on which community they're coming from, sounds like possibly another vehicle had drive train issues with SCs. There's plenty of engines out there with boost issues, cranks, pistons, etc. Whether or not it has anything to do with the 1GR I'm not sure
