Lift Kit - TRD Pro by Westcott Designs

Hey there Pro's

I'm new to lifting 4runner's. My goal is to lift the truck to the point that it will look nice with 285/70/17 BFG's, my budget is not unlimited so I did find Westcott Designs lift kits but it will lift only 1.5” (front lift) and 1.25” (rear lift). Is that enough for those tires?
Can anyone please post a pic with that kind of set up ?!
Also some say that springs are the way to go instead of the kit? No idea why so maybe someone can chime in?!

Thanks for any advice!

285/70-17 fit stock.

his kit looks great, doesn't change anything other than ride height. it's superior to a cheap spacer lift.

Here's my TRD Pro with a lift from Wescott Design on 285/70/17s. I have no clearance issues whatsoever.

In a Westcott video, they say 2” front, 1” rear lift on a 5th gen.

In the video, the rear lift is a spacer lift. The front lift is a combination of a thin spacer and spring preload.

Lift Kit - TRD Pro by Westcott Designs

For comparison here is mine with Eibach springs which are way easier to install IMO and with 285's.

They are the Eibach springs for the Pro. I don’t know the exact part #. 1.6” front and 1” in the rear. What I like is they just springs. No spacers. The ride quality is slightly firmer than stock, but the handling is better. I’ve lifted all my vehicles and none have been as nice as this. The total cost for springs, install, alignment and tires was $1600. I’ve never come close to that for just tires on my Jeeps.

Thank you for the info, i'm torn between the two now.. Springs or Spacers. I guess it comes down to ride quality, which ever not as firm is the way to go I guess. What tires you have ? BFG's are like $250 each..

Those springs made it look perfect. Is it just me, or is your pre-lift rake unusually pronounced? Mine, stock, looks more evenly balanced, IMO.

I'm running the Wildpeak AT3's. I love them. I have run the KO2's many times and I like these better especially in the rain.

As far as springs vs spacers, I would always go with springs. From what I can tell the Wescott lift adds some pre load while I believe the Eibach springs are similar if not the same spring load as the stock springs. When I showed my installer the Wescott lift he said he was glad I did the springs.

It could have been the angle of the parking lot. I never thought it had much rake when it was stock, but that pic might exaggerate it a bit.

Im really torn on this... I was 100% set on the Eibach spring upgrade, until they announced that the '21 version wont be released untill August/September... and it would be a pain in the ass to run my 285s all summer on stock height.. and cant run winter tires all summer.. so basically Westcott is the only other solution. (Unless there is another readily accessibly 13"-13.5" 650lb open spring available)

(I have a '20 that previously had the Icon springs for a 1" lift, but now on the '21 suspension due to warranty replacement)

I must be dense but I don't see any sense in the Westcott at all compared to a simple spacer lift or doing it with setup like Eibach or 5100 Bils. Someone get my mind right for me.

The Westcott setup retains the original geometry of the front suspension (but not the rear). You paid good money for those factory FOX, so the logic here is to keep that ride quality... at least in the front.
