Calling everyone with rotopaX

So I am looking for RotopaX ideas. I am looking to carry fuel and water. I have a LFD rear bumper. Is it possible to put a pax on the outside of the spare tire or iniside. Also do I need the plate or just the 1, 2, 2.25, and 4 Gallon Extension? I would love to use a 2 gallon water and a 4 gallon fuel since I don't think 2 gallons would do much. What do you have? Do you like it? Do you have pictures?

Would this work?

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing your setup.

You could probably mount one of the Gamiviti Spare receivers behind/through the spare. Spare Receivers — Gamiviti

Thanks I will contact them to see what they have. Since my spare is on the bumper I have no hitch so I would need a plate and then another plate. I wish I knew how to weld I could just make one.

That doesn't mount to your hitch. It mounts to the tire mount (on your bumper swing-out, not a stock tire mount) and adds a receiver, and you can attach a rotopax mount to that new receiver.

RIGd UltraSwing Rotopax Mounting Bracket - RIGd Supply

Thanks for reading and I look forward to seeing your setup.
The Rigd Supply setup works great. 2200 miles recently with the 4 gallon unit between the tire and the hatch.
Easy on and off, not having to climb on the roof to get 30 pounds of fuel down, solid and simple.

I have several RotoPax for my ATV, but not for my 4Runner. They are a great product.

The RIDg swing arm for the spare looks like a great idea. The link you provided is just al bracket to add a RotoPax to the swing arm; you would still need the swing arm. Since the RotoPax sits between the tire and the hatch, you would only be able to have one RotoPax mounted, otherwise it would be too thick. Thus, you could not use the RotoPax extensions to add a second Pax.

The RIDg adapter does not come with the RotoPax mount, so you would need to buy the RotoPax mount (Rotopax Deluxe Pack Mount | eBay). That would allow you to mount any RotoPax from 1 gallon to 4 gallon (the RIDg picture shows a 4 gallon).

I have a 4 gallon Rotopax on my roof sitting flat. I have the extension and plan on putting a 2 gallon water and a 2 gallon gas tank fit together to go on top of the 4 gallon gas. Currently with only 1 4 gallon gas tank I use the center hole, but once I get the 2 gallon water and 2 gallon gas I will have no choice but to use the outer two holes.

Negatives, because they sit flat I have had some leaks. You will have to take them off especially if you are losing altitude and release the pressure from time to time. Hassle. Second, wind resistance. I haven't noticed much noise since I have a wind fairing on my LFD setup but with a second one added who knows. Gas mileage will also go down.

I do not really want a rear bumper so I keep my spare underneath. I haven't figured out a location to mount the Rotopax except for my roof. I have seen some outside molle panels on the rear window but they are held on with a suction cup on the bottom so not sure about that. There are some ladders you can attach them too but I don't want or need a ladder.

Are those the LFD crossbars? I just bought 2 and a wind fairing.

Late bump here. Have you figured out a solution to better mount your Rotopax? I'm on the same mission as you, for my 4th gen. Considering getting the LFD cross bars to put a rotopax gas tank up top for the few times I may need a few gallons out on a trail, but the occasional leaks thing bothers me. In addition to your comments I bolded above, I also don't want to attach anything to the side windows. I envision the limit of the rooftop stuff exactly as your photo...my Hi-Lift, MaxTrax, a gas tank and maybe an awning, too.

I would recommend a Rigd ultraswing. I have one but instead of a spare I have a dual jerry can holder on it, and I have the hi lift attachment but havent used it. I like that it does everything I need and is removable when not needed.
