Snorkel alternatives?

Any alternatives out there to get the intake out of the wheel well?
Main objective is to increase water fording height in the event of an unexpected hole. I don't plan on doing deep crossing, but little bit of extra insurance is always good.

Don't want a cold air intake....

I was thinking an airbox mod....close off stock location and open up firewall side and run into cowl. Does anyone already have something like this or a less conspicuous snorkel?

I don't have any experience with any of this but I've seen jeeps route it into/through the cowl. I've also heard of it being routed into the cab near the passenger footwell. But I imagine that would be quite loud when you get on the throttle.
