I need to carry a 9'6" longboard on my rack ('21 TRD Pro with the FJ style rack). The farthest points to strap down seem a little close for this length board (for highway speeds) so wondering if anyone has tried adding another crossbar further towards the front

If it helps at all, I am pretty comfortable placing one crossbar in front of the limiter screw like in this photo here from when I mount my cargo box:
I was concerned about the same thing but gave it a try--my 13' SOT did just fine. I put a pad on the rear of the rack which actually gave me 3 supports for the rack rather than 2. I drove 7 hours, much of it at highway speeds, with no issues---I might feel differently if I still contended w/AZ winds but it was all good here in the SE.
Does it have to be mounted on the rack or can you transport it inside with the lift gate window down?
For the short trips when staying near the beach then for sure I'll just throw it in the back and let it hang out the rear window opening. But unfortunately don't live so close so have to shlep a lot of other gear that takes up the cargo space. I'd be driving for 10+ hours in this case.

Thanks! Good to know the crossbar will fit in front of the stops. I hadn't tried to move them up there yet but getting any extra space between bars will be a good thing
