I’ll be damned, I just found the C rated tire on TR. It must be brand new. Just bought SL in stock size 2 months ago, son of a *****!

You're right, General Tire does not list a C load on their website. If this is real, it'd be great. Guess I'll send another inquiry to General Tire.

I found it here on Tire Rack: https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...omCompare1=yes
the tire on that link has a load rating BELOW the load rating that General Tire gives for their SL tire... doesn't make a lot of sense...

Odd. Let me know if you hear from GT about why that's the case.

That said, I can confirm they do exist.

General Tire confirms that the 265/70R17 A/Tx does exist in a C load:

"We offer the Grabber A/Tx in an LT265/70R17 112/109T LRC, under part number 04509790000. We are currently experiencing a delay in site updates."

That said...

- The OEM tires are a 113S
- The A/Tx SL are 115T
- The A/Tx C are 112T

So the C are UNDER the original load rating for the vehicle (which I assume isn't good) and UNDER the load rating of the SL... which just flat out confuses me! I sent another question back to General Tire about that.

I believe that P-metric tires take a load reduction hit of 1/1.1, so roughly a 9% hit, when mounted on a truck or SUV. Also the LR C vs the SL would have different max pressures and would need to be run at different pressures for the same load.

They did tell me via email:

"Thank you for contacting Customer Relations at General Tire. You are correct, the LT C version of the A/Tx will be more durable than the P-Metric version."

....so hopefully the sidewall is a bit more durable? I notice that the tread width is ~1.2'' wider and the tread depth is 1/16'' deeper.

Got this back from General Tire:

"P-Metric tires are rated with a 10% overage in load capability when used on SUV's, Light Trucks, and Vans because of the difference in load handling. However, there is no 10% overage for LT tires. An SL tire has an equivalent 4 ply sidewall, while a C has a 6 ply sidewall, offering slightly more durability than the SL.

Part#: 04509790000
Pattern_Name: GRABBER A/TX
Description: LT265/70R17 112/109T FR GRABBER A/TX
Load Range: C
Load Index: 112 - 2469 lbs
Season: AS
UPC: 51342213313
Width: 10.43"
Rim Width: 17"
Secvtion Width: 10.7"
Overall Diameter: 31.61"

I asked a couple follow up questions and got this:

"The tire is 46 lbs. As for the load range E tires, they have an equivalent 10 ply rating."

That makes me particularly pissed that after ~30 days of hemming and hawing I bought SL-rated ATX's 3 months ago LOL.

I used stock size wildpeaks on my 2018. They have been great on and off road (though the off road stuff is pretty mild).

You're past their 45 satisfaction period, but find out when the C's came out... and if it was before you bought your SL's and they STILL don't have the C's on their website, contact them and make the case that they should let you swap (and pay the difference, as the C's are likely more expensive). You never know, they might say yes...

Is everyone still happy with their SL load 265 Grabbers? Thinking of reading out these new Ko2’s I just bought. They feel heavy and they can’t seem to get them balanced. Going to try one more time. If no luck I’m moving to the Cooper AT3 4s or General Grabbers. I think the C load is overkill for me these days.

I’m about a year now on LT E Grabber A/Tx. Have been great. Only complaint is the 2 MPG they cost me.
