CBI Aluminium Bumper Lead Times

For anyone looking at ordering an aluminium front bumper from CBI, you might want to plan ahead. Currently I’m at week 25 of waiting. I’m not in a rush as I’m working away but just wanted to let people know. My supplier said it should be in next month. They also told me they had one take 6 months.

Steel is quicker I’m told.

Must not be much demand for aluminum surprisingly, but that's the only full metal bumper bumper I'd buy ... aluminum.

@SnoRnR Thanks for the heads up. Which shop did you get the bumper from up here in Canadaland? Looking to get one too.

Can I ask why you went through a "supplier" instead of dealing directly with CBI?

If they are local enough that he can pick it up, he'll likely save a couple hundred bucks on shipping.

Unless the taxes would be more.

I would deal with the wait times Better if it wasn't paid in full when ordered. I would be kewl with doing payments. Pay for materials up front, pay for labor when completed and shipping when shipped.

I refuse to deal with vendors that pull that crap. Give them all your money up front and they have no incentive to provide reasonable turn around times or good service thereafter, since they have your cash. They invest it in the market and make bank, you wait for them to get around to building your thing.

Totally mis-aligned incentives.

I used KRave Automotive in Calgary. They laid out all the costs and were very upfront about lead times and costs involved.

I only paid a 15% deposit. The shop was upfront about peas times. But it’s the CBI site saying 15+ weeks. I’m guessing issues getting materials during COVID. Plus the more technical manufacturing processes involved with welding aluminium are to blame. I’m happy to wait but only if the product comes and is flawless.

I’m in Canada CBI don’t offer shipping and you have to sort your own broker. Plus my supplier sorts all the brokerage and shipping and only requires a 15% deposit until everything is fitted. Can’t really complain with that.

The problem is the all do it. I agree it is BS. Have some type of an escrow account or if you use their financing company, I would pay it in full upon delivery, then I would go that route.

The thing is they don't have to make accommodations for anyone because demand is so high.

I am not giving someone $3000, to then pay it off on month one taking cash reserves away and then hoping they deliver. Oh well.
