Guilty! Use my 4Runner like a truck! Post your pics here!
Hey y'all hope ur all havin a good one. Let me just get this out here for all those that say "theres already a post just do a search, lol! There was a post not too long ago about someone complainin that the plastic in their 4Runnner scratches so easy and some one replied "if you use ur 4Runner like a truck, then its gonna get used like a truck!!!"
So this thread is for those who use their 4Runner like a truck. A 5 thousand pound tow rating is nothing to sneeze at. The following picture I posted is a regular trip to the local Homers and am picking up 12' long soffit. My previous Tacoma could not have brought this home from there. @ 2' wide and very flexible. It sits on my dash and about 2' out the back window. Yeah I might have scratched the premium leather seats or the rear tailgate paint when loading, but am so happy with the 4Runner cause I would have not been able to bring this home with the old Tacoma.
Please post ur pictures using your 4Runner as a truck and will understand if you have a few scratches on your plastic interior panels of your 4Runner.

I bought mine in January this year so this is my first and only load so far. Well, I bought a bunch of 2x6s over the weekend for a picnic table too but neglected to take a picture of that. Here is some cheapo paneling for the basement that I crammed in. Had to listen to the beep beep beep all the way home... LOL. That cargo area plastic scratches so easily. My Xterra had the same thing. I ordered a full canvasback liner a couple weeks ago and it cannot get here soon enough!
Anyway, here is my wimpy contribution to your thread.

Huh, so all men don't own an old pick up that sits in the yard and gets driven when its needed?
I guess I owe the lady and apology on this one.

Another ex-Xterra owner here. Love that we can fit 4’ boards in the back now! Loaded up for a basement room reno. Luckily Home Depot is only 2 miles away.

Take a scredriver with you and push the latch closed as if it was actually latching. No more beep. Just remember to hit the button on the hatch to release it

I see that bowing...
Look up "filmmaking full apple boxes" They are a bit expensive for what they are, but they are extremely useful around the house or shop. They make a dandy seat that you can turn three ways to adjust the height, a step with the same characteristics but has a small footprint etc... with a couple of them you can support the center of anything you are loading into the back of the truck. Keep it flat, and safe. I use them all the time.( i do work in film so i have them for work... but they find a home all over my personal life.)
Alan Gordon Enterprises Full Apple Box 1065-FULLACXPLY - Adorama
Its just a wooden box, but its strong as hell. Will hold hundreds of pounds.

Here is a pic from last week. 20 ft boards running the length of the trailer and about 3 feet into the truck. On every hard left turn I thought I was going to lose a rear window

I love this thread. I'm a trailer guy but, have been known to make purchases which require sketchy loading from time to time. My wife is used to it but still rolls her eyes and asks why I just don't go home and get the trailer.

LOL Your crazy Jesse...haha.
Have a trailer also but think I would have opted to take the gate off and hang out the rear. I don't know, glad you made it home safely.
Did not know you could get four foot wide sheets in the back of a 4R. That could come in handy one day.

Here is another pick where I loaded up some pavers I found on Craigslist. Put about 400 pounds in the back of the 4Runner so as not to overload my trailer. Leveled it out but it pulled pretty good.
