I have a 2011 Trail with a sunroof stuck in the closed position. The motor sounds fine at the start of motion until it gets jammed so I don't think its a motor issue. Just seems to be off the track and jammed. Anybody dealt with this?
I tried to slide it open on the highway last week at about 60mph (is this a bad idea?). The front lip of the glass caught the wind and lifted enough that there was a gap where I could see through to the sky - NOT from sliding backwards, but rather lifting straight up. The sliding motion had stopped and wouldn't go further so I released the slider button and the gap closed. Pressing the forward slider button seemed to reseat it back to fully closed state. A second attempt to open caused the same gap and failure to slide. Now when trying to slide the sunroof open with vehicle stationary, the motor starts moving but doesn't really get anywhere and sounds jammed. The tilt function is fine going up, but now needs a few tries to get it closed because the blockage sensor keeps tripping.
Trying to diagnose the issue, I realize that I can push up on the front passenger corner enough to cause a gap on that side just like I saw on the highway. The three other corners don't budge.
I posted a video of it HERE
