My Turn For A Trail Grid Pro Head-Unit Install

Definitely one of the easiest mods I've done. Took less than an hour. The plug and play kit was as easy as they claim and the charcoal dash kit matches perfect. The sound blows away the stock unit. I just got my bracket for the microphone this morning so I'll route that up to the overhead console this weekend.

That looks great. I've been debating between that Sony and the larger one for a couple days now. I just wish they had a Bluetooth option for my phone since that damn port always seems to wear out 6 months before I can update my phone

Please let us know how that bracket works for the Sony mic. I see there's the 3d printed one, but says kenwood, but figure dimensionally it's close enough.

Custom hidden mic bracket for aftermarket head unit

Or I'm just debating on getting the plug in one either: Enfig MIC-TOY1 – Enfig Car Stereo

Thx

This is pretty neat, I wonder if I can keep my anytime front/rear camera switch since this uses factory plugs?

I just received my Trail Grid Pro AX7000 kit too, everything was packaged very nicely. I'll be installing it soon; I also have an anytime rear camera switch installed so I'll follow up on whether it still works

Not sure how yinz guys switches work, but the AX7000 already has an "anytime" rear camera function.

It didn’t work with my rear camera switch, the harness that the camera plugs into is different than the OEM head unit so it’s tapped into a completely different connector. The switch doesn’t do anything now.

The Sony headunit does have a pretty easy way to turn on the camera from the interface so a switch isn’t a necessity

following this thread and listening to your guy's reviews of the head unit down the road. Thanks for posting

So far the only thing I don't like is that it doesn't display any album art for SXM or when you're streaming via bluetooth.

So obviously somebody like me is debating on this upgrade but how would you rate the sound quality and power compared to the stock unit? Thanks

No comparison. The power, quality and clarity are all better than OEM, but that should be expected with the built-in 45watt RMS amplifier. I'd love to hear this HU with the OEM+ speakers.

It works fine with this bracket. I have the same head unit and used the hidden bracket for the mic. I do believe it is a snug fit, but it works.

The bracket itself worked fine, but in a quick phone test my wife said I sounded really muffled so I need to fiddle with it more. Siri works fine as-is, though.

Cool. Thanks. I'll get soon. and I might just do the one mic too.

And yes, I have the OEM+ speakers only, and looking to try the internal amp.

I think that's one downside of the aftermarket mics is that their quality isn't that great. It sounds like your position might be a little off though.
