Fallen at3w avoid.
I put brand new falken wildpeak at3w on my trd 4Runner at 400 miles. I’m currently at 8800 miles, in that time span I have had my tires road force balanced 4 times. Yesterday, I watched as discount tire balanced all 4 tires and there machine said they were good. At 55-65 had crazy shake in steering wheel. Today they replaced all 4 tires for free with there house branded branded pathfinder AT. 4 runner rides great with Zero shake in steering wheel. Sales man said he has had to replace 4 sets of wildpeaks in the last 2 weeks and that he tells customers to stay away from them. I guess you get what you pay for.

Must be a recent issue, bad batch, or something, because I have them and I've got 10K+ miles without any issues at all. Great wear, good looking tire.
If Falken changed something, I don't like the sound of that. I love my tires.

I feel like every maker/brand of tire will put out a few bad ones every now and then. For every out of balance/out of round tire post talking about the Falkens, you get one not having a single issue.
For example, I've had them on my 4Runner for around 55-60k miles now without issue.
That being said, I am moving to the Toyo AT3 on my next set to try something different.

Mine where made in USA. My brother had problems with his on his f150 tires out of round. I had a set made in Thailand on my f150 with zero problems. I guess with 2 out of 3 sets being bad it will keep me from ever buying another set. I do love the look and the low cost but they are not worth the chance of getting a bad set. I was going to buy a set for my new Tacoma trd but am going to go with the toyo open county at3.

My theory is that there have to be some manufacturing tolerances for each brand/tire in how much balance they need, how round they are, etc. With the 4Runners, even if a tire might be in manufacturer's tolerance, the 4Runners are simply too sensitive to tire balance, so in some instances, there are issues such as with OP's story.
It's kind of a quirk of this truck. I've dealt with some of the same issues with KO2s. Some local Toyota 4-wheel shops don't mount KO2s at all citing the balance issues. But at the same time, I've a FCA friend who mounts tons of KO2s on Rams and Jeeps and hardly ever has issues.
My own rig on KO2s sometimes shakes a little, but most times it does not. Mine were balanced buy Discount tire here in CO, where they deal with a lot of lifted Toyotas, they use the plate adapters are are quite good at balancing finicky setups.

Can you list the size, load rating and manufacture date for reference?
Almost 25k on mine and they are some of the best tires Ive ever run...

I've also been fighting steering wheel shake with my AT3Ws despite multiple balances from different shops telling me they look fine.
At this point I've concluded they're probably just slightly out of round. It's been almost two years since I got them though so I can't exactly return them. I'll probably go with a different brand next time I'm up for new tires.

Has to be a bad batch or recent changes in quality.
I've had mine on my T4R3G for > 8k miles (and installed 16 months ago) and they've been through some gnarly stuff and they have been great. Also, nary a steering wheel shake to be found.

Axel1 I bet that shake will eliminated after you change your tires. Every time they were put on a balancer mine balanced, but when you drove my 4 runner it told another story. Been doing some research and it seems likes guys with Tacoma’s are having the same issues. I know all tire brands can have issues, just seems the at3w’s are a little more prone to them. Just my .02 cents .

Sorry some of you guys are having issues. Thing is though, I've encountered the same complaints with nearly every tire brand out there on various forums. Same complaints about Nitto, BFG, Toyo, etc etc. Like another poster said, I think sometimes you get a tire that's a bit out of spec or out of round.
For my part, I bought a set of stock size P metric Wildpeaks in October and have about 5,500 miles on them, and they've been great. I've had no steering shake at all. In fact they've been better than the stock tires that came on my 4Runner which had a little shake on the highway.

I have 275 C load, and they've been perfect. I'd have no problem buying again.
