I did on my ‘19. In fairness, the salesman screwed up badly on my deal. I was given Toyota supplier pricing when the bottom of the page explicitly says “excludes TRD Pro and LC”. I ended up a though over 45, or about 10% off MSRP which at the time was invoice minus another $500 - again Toyota supplier discount.

nah i laugh at stock pros who stare at my kitted out 2020 venture edition that i spent days haggling down to low 40k that pretty much looks like/better than a pro except my own after market lift, bd lights, c4fab front and back bumpers, full roof rack + ladder all for still under the price of a gouged pro.

I doubt you could've talked them down much last week. Take this thread with a grain of salt, its just people typing on the internet. It's very easy to knock a couple thousand off of what you actually paid and round down from there. With everyone claiming to get 15% to 20% off, it makes honest people embarrassed to say they paid closer to MSRP.
Enjoy your ride.

Pretty normal if you want one in the 'special' color.
I called 5 dealers that had what I wanted in stock in a 300 mile range. 2 of them were gone by the time I called, the 3rd was 7k over MSRP, the 4th was 5k over MSRP, the 5th agreed to sell at sticker.
I called the one that wanted $5k over, told them I'd be down there at 7am to pay MSRP, if they couldn't do that I was going to buy one 200 miles away. The guy told me to hold on, comes back about 60 seconds later and says "Sorry, manager is telling me no room to negotiate, we'll sell it for this price within a week". Went and picked mine up the next day, when I got home I checked on the place I had called and it was gone.
The resale is beyond insane though, I could sell mine now for more than I paid for it.

From everything I am told in my area you can do better than MSRP on some/most TRD Pros (when they are available)....

The number you are referring to as the "stock number" is actually to Toyota designated Model Number. Every Toyota model has a number based on the the specific model and trim. Dealers assign a stock number to each vehicle as it's put into the computer inventory system.

Yeah, this never works they know someone will pay what they’re asking and laugh at your offer.

You won’t believe how many dealers sell them with the wheels and grill already installed.

Demand for 4Runners are crazy right now. Dealership across my from workplace can’t keep them in stock. I payed MSRP for mine back in 16, it had just came off the truck. I couldn’t find the package and color I wanted within 200 miles and the salesman said “if you don’t buy today it will be gone tomorrow.” Picked it the next day and as I was finalizing paper work people were walking in inquiring about it.

is mostly right. 4runners can't be kept in stock and they are bought all the time for well over MSRP. Right now supply is down and demand is up so it's worse than normal.

August 2019. For a few days, there were 4 Voodoo Blue TRD PROs within a 50 mile radius of me. One was a very big high volume dealer and they had it advertised at a discount. I used that and went back and forth with three of the dealerships. They were willing to bargain. The 4th dealership wanted MSRP and wouldn't budge. In the end I got mine for $44,800. Sticker was $48,400. I was trading a 2018 TRD off road premium. They gave me KBB trade value and probably made a couple grand off of my trade.

It all depends how you value a vehicle and what you're looking for. The real cost of a vehicle is what you pay, minus what you can get for a trade value when you're ready to move on. Buy a Mercedes S Class for $120K and you'll be lucky to get $50K in trade 3 years later. It'll cost you $70K to drive it for 3 years. I'm 2 years in on ownership of my 2019 Voodoo Blue PRO. I was lucky to get it for $44K. KBB trade value in my area, condition and mileage....$44K. With my free maintenance to this point, my PRO has essentially been free.

There is a supply shortage due shipping container shortage but the numbers are pretty much inline. My the end of the year if all is good covid wise the supply will catch up nevertheless due to inflation the price of all goods will go up also the msrp of new 2021 will be increased. So patience is the key.
4runners sales by year.
2018 139,694,
2019 131,864
2020 129,052
2021 37,263
With all that said, I might be wrong.
