In socal it's almost impossible to find anything at MSRP unless it's an SR5 or something in classic silver. I was shopping for a Venture or ORP and pretty much every dealer wanted 3K over sticker. Santa Monica wanted $15K over sticker for their Lunar rock Pro because "its the only one in the entire state" and $10k over sticker for their super white Pro.

I looked outside my area and found a dealer in Visalia willing to sell me a Pro at MSRP so I made the 3 hour drive each way and picked it up today.

They are worth whatever the market is willing to pay. Evidently, it's a lot.

Agreed. I just can't fathom paying that kind of coin for what you get with these SUVs. We bought a new 2020 TRD ORP back in July for $38500 and bought all OEM TRD Pro parts (wheels, grill, bumper covers, skid plate, exhaust, LED fog lights) plus AT tires, running boards, and roof rack bars for around $4K. Minus mounting the tires, all the install work was done by my wife and me. She essentially got the Pro-look she wanted and saved $6-10K in the process. 5100 Bilsteins and OEM+ speakers are next and we're done.

The one thing I wish I didn't tell her about was that $700 TRD exhaust. I should have kept my mouth shut about that one. It's unnecessary and is annoying on the highway when the trans is gear hunting.

Went hone and called Sansone Toyota in NJ
Made a deal over phone: $20,000 for my trade (2012 trail edition) and sticker for 2021 trd pro

1 hour later I was sitting in my new truck

Go on cars for com
Search inventory and call around

Lots of dealers offer delivery
Did you drive it over to the 1st dealer and rub it in their face?
I would've.

At age 64, I have modded a ton of motorcycles and am kind of done with that now. I'd much rather pay more and not do as many mods. I got the TRD Pro for that reason. I added a Pedal Commander and will add a Southern Style bumper and Warn winch. Everything else has just been protection for the interior. I paid MSRP for the Pro and got a good trade value for my Subaru Crosstrek, so the OTD new cost for me was around 30K included all taxes and fees. In 2016 I bought nicely optioned new Porsche 911 C2s, so whether a vehicle is worth it is pretty subjective

Not that it helps you now... but sounds like you should've sprung for the PRO. The PRO will net you whatever amount you saved (and more) when it comes time to sell. Plus you get the nice little touches that you don't get in the ORP.

It will be a LONG time until my wife sells. She's wanted a Toyota truck again and she keeps her cars forever. It's quite possible she'll have it for 10+ years.

The ONLY thing I miss about the Pro compared to the ORP is the lack of auto climate control. My wife doesn't care at all and it's her truck.

I do get it though, some people aren't as concerned about the money and/or want a true Pro 4runner. There are advantage especially when it comes to colors. The resale is certainly higher with the Pro, though I do question paying MSRP or higher given that by the time most sell, the new generation will be out which will very likely hurt resale. I would bet we'd get back more on resale on our ORP ($38.5K new, $4k TRD in mods) than someone paying more than MSRP for their Pro.

I've never bought cars with the thought of resale though. I bought a new BMW after all. LOL

Is this accurate with that any other TRD PRO buyers experienced?? Seemed odd to me.
Got Lunar Rock Pro for MSRP. Mark up is all dealer, not Toyota.

I was just put off at all the BS. The other dealer was straightforward and was like sticker price it is.
