Looking at a 2012 SR5

173,000km ( around 100,000miles ). Just had LBJ and brakes done, never undercoated and apparently no problems. Buying from original owner.
He doesnt think an alignment was done after the BJ replacement.

I had a 3rd gen; do the 5th gen’s have LBJ issues as well?

Anything else to look for ?

My 2013 TE has 75K miles with no problems and the 7 year warranty expired unused. It has seen a lot of trails, sand and snow.

My 2011 Limited is rolling up on 180,000 km and still going strong.

I'd look for the complete service history (if available) from the owner or dealership, especially noting when the fluids (engine coolant, transmission, transfer case, differential) were last changed.

I'd bring it to a trusted mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection just to be safe. I'd want it up on a hoist to check the underside components and frame (for rust).

The brakes are on ongoing issue with the calipers being susceptible to seizing. Just need to stay on top of routine servicing of them.

Check to see if the Takata air bag recall has been addressed. I'd also look up any Technical Service Bulletins (TSBs) for that year.

Buying a 5th Gen

100000 mile 5th gens

5th Gen maintenence schedule?

High mileage and suspension
