I spent a few days in Moab this past weekend and second this recommendation. We went in from the Dewey bridge side. Honestly a great trail and one of my favorites in Moab so far. It's more than your typical Moab wheeling trail. Less trafficked, plenty of detour and side routes, a few technical obstacles, key points of interests along the way, and you can definitely spend a while in there. We camped 2 nights there and didn't see or hear anyone else. Moab is crazy busy this time of year (and has seemingly gotten more developed in the last 1-2 years) so many of the popular campgrounds or more common trails were basically full so it was nice to find a trail and spot that didn't have dozens of other people there. We stayed there the second night simply because the campsite was too good and we didn't want to find another one on a busy weekend. My thought is that the initial rock ledges keep the Subaru's and Campers vans out of the trail. Just the way I like it.
I also ran into a few guys pre-running DP for Cruise Moab as well. I'll be sure to try and sign up for CM 2022. The most important thing is not to go on the same weekend as Easter Jeep Safari. With how busy Moab has become I bet it's a real cluster f the week of EJS.

You’ll be fine. As I mentioned in the post above, Dead Horse State Park has great trails, enough elevation to challenge and give a workout and some spectacular views.
That is the truth. I have to get out West at least once a year and the time between is pretty lame in the MTB department. Damn I miss living in California, or any state that has mountains for that matter!

If you happen to pass through central Alabama on your way to/from the west check out Coldwater Mountain in Anniston. It's a legit MTB park in the SE and a surprisingly good hidden gem. Worth the detour if you have the time.
