Moab Trails for Stock rigs
goin to moab with the family for a vacation in May, more of a hiking trip than wheeling but want to experience some of the trails out there so we are going to do that for two of the days. Can anyone recommend some of the trails that are do-able on a stock rig? It’s a 2018 TRD offroad , doesn’t currently have a/t tires but will by the time of the trip, toyo at3s or grabber atxs.
Also, if anyone has MTB trail recommendations i’d take them as well.
thanks in advance

Fins n Things, Chicken Corners, Gemini Bridges, White Rim Road can all be done in a completely stock 4runner.

Not a trail at all, it's a paved road - the views though off of SH-128 are amazing start in moab and work your way around the river a bit, there's a spa on the left side and some campground on the right, i'd turn around after that.
Spring Canyon Bottom is easy also, just stop just before "hey Joe Canyon" or you'll be in a world of hurt.

You can take a stock 5th gen with rear locker, sliders and off road tires (Even in stock size) on just about any trail out there outside of Moab Rim and maybe Golden Spike. It's all about your damage tolerance For the more advanced trails you will drag your bumpers and most likely have skid contact.
If you want easier trails that are scenic I would say White Rim Rd, Seven Mile Rim, Gemini Bridges are great ones. If you want to dial it up and do more technical driving Poison Spider Mesa and Hells Revenge are definitely not to be missed.
For MTB my favorite trail by far is Captain Ahab / Hymasa. It is a pretty advanced trail but a super fun one. I do it every time I go out there and never get sick of it. If you want to do what most people ride when they are in the area you can check out the Whole Enchilada and Slickrock.

Take the easy way to Dome Plateau overlook by going down Owl Draw Road, a bit north of the Dewey bridge.

Schafer Trail has some very scenic spots and is very easy. Long Canyon, Gemini Bridges, Chicken Corners as others have said. Picture of my Pro under the fallen rock on Long Canyon.

For MTB suggestions, go north of Moab and hit the Klondike Bluffs trail system. It's only a few minutes drive and it's a bit out of the way. When I was there in June of 19 it had far fewer people and riding was just as great.
If you like to bomb descents, make sure your brakes are beefy enough and your brake fluid doesn't have moisture in it. I'd bleed it if it's more than 2 years old or so.
if you're an aggressive rider and don't have as much experience with big elevation, it's easy to roast the brakes. Learned that lesson a few years ago after having been a Midwest and Texas rider.
This is a tangent, but even mid to mid/high-range builds don't really come with brakes that are great with big elevation. Moab isn't necessary the worst case, so making sure you don't boil the fluid and having good pads should be OK. Here in CO, though, it can be a different story.

I have zero experience with elevation, all of my riding has been in minnesota/northern wisconsin. Are there any trails that don’t have much of a descent? I have an awesome trail bike, 2021 Specialized Epic Evo, but it’s built for XC/single track.

That is horrible, you need to fix that. Elevation is the best part of MTB. Too bad you will be out here too early for any bike parks.

It'll be just fine, only thing you may want to consider changing is tires if you have some light, low rolling ones. Would recommend trail to enduro tires, tubeless.

We’ll be there in may as well. 15th-18th. Lot of great suggestions here. Limited time and with an 8 month old coming along will have to stick to the “less technical trial” as well. Unless they wanna hang at the hotel with mom for a day.

Long Canyon and Gemini Bridges were my two personal favorites just because of the hikes off of them.
Dead Horse State Park (right near the start Long Canyon Road) has some awesome mountain biking). We actually camped at Dead Horse for 2 nights.
More pics on my thread.
