Your 4Runner Has a Phone Number 2020
At myvehicle.att.com you can type in your VIN and set up your truck with its own phone number and use it as a WiFi hot spot.
On my 2020 SR5 Premium I got 2gig for free for 3 months. It is actually pretty nice and if you don't combine this with your other ATT accounts you wont have to pay taxes and fees on the first 2gig.
The unlimited data plan they have is $20/mo or $200/yr now and if you have people with you with iPads or iPhones this is a pretty good deal based on what I know from what ATT wants to charge me for it on my iPhone alone.
Have fun and give it a try. You don't have to continue it if you don't want.

Still learning about mine. I saw that number and did not understand why I couldn't add mine. Now I get it.

Does this also work on a 2019 MY? I have a 2019 Pro. Thanks?

I have "Hot Spot" on my phone. I wouldn't need it on my vehicle. I would still want to try it and see if it worked if I thought my vehicle was equipped to do it.

My first guess is NO, I just went to the above link and when I selected Canada as my country there was no link to Toyota Vehicles at all. Of course there is the possibility that Toyota Canada uses a different carrier..

Call Verizon or another carrier and ask if they do the Toyota vehicle hot spot. I added Verizon hot spot on our Sienna and it's good for tablet users on a trip or for me if I want to see a larger map than on my phone.

Pretty cool. I’ll have to look into it. The wife would love this for long trips. Good tip 👍🏽

2021 Limited here. Used the 2gb of free AT&T data, and before letting it expire was offered 15/mo unlimited data. I do A LOT of highway driving, and my cell provider is verizon, and i have a shared data plan, so no unlimited data on my cell phone. This option seemed like a no-brainer for me and so far its worked very well. Very nice to have a hotspot for passengers with iPads for road trips, and nice to have it on a different carrier. I find a lot of value in it for 15/mo, and am happy with the service.

A little late to the party, but you can check compatibility for ATT’s connected car service here:
vlt
You can also call verizon. I wasn’t able to find a way to check compatibility on their website. Going through this setup, I got the impression that 2021 4runners were AT&T only, and that older models may have been on verizon. If this was available on my 2018 limited, I certainly was never aware of it. Maybe 2019 and up?

.
I like it too.
I have been using the in-truck unlimited data cellular month-by-month when I’m on trips. I turn it off and on depending upon how much time I plan to spend in the truck

That’s a lot of money for probably pretty slow speeds when compared to using a hot spot on the phone you already own and carry everywhere.
As a plus, you can use it away from your vehicle.
My thoughts.....

Man... I'm surprised the dealer didn't tell me about this. I don't think I would have purchased anything, but they sure tried to get me to buy a billion other things.
